Happy Pumpkin Day!

Coffee of the Day - Pumpkin Spice, of course!

Wishing all of you a Happy Pumpkin Day/Halloween!

We have our annual Hot Dog House for trick or treating this evening. for those of you not familiar with our tradition, we go to a friend's home and pass out hot dogs, coffee, hot chocolate, and water to all of those who are trick or treating in our community. We've been doing this for more than 10 years now, and it is always a big hit! We give away more than 200 hot dogs every year. Dave will go over about 5:00pm to help get the tables and grills set up.

Whatever you do for the holiday and weekend, stay safe!

I'll be back later this weekend with some projects I have been working on. don't forget that tonight is your last chance to enter my Pinktober Blog Candy! :)

Sorry I Haven't Been Around

Coffee of the Day - Salted Caramel

So sorry that I haven't been around in a while. A little over a week ago I started having shooting pains from my head down into my neck reaching sometimes as far as my legs. I later discovered a lump on my head behind my ear. Have spent most of my time in bed, as it's difficult to move my head in any direction without the spasms and pains attacking. this has, of course, set off my seizures, which just adds to the delightful little mix we call every day life around here. ;)

Thankfully the pains have begun to subside a bit, but then yesterday my fingers began twitching and moving all on their very own. it was quite bothersome last night - almost like something from a horror movie. hey, that's it! my body is just getting ready for Halloween! ;)

anyhow, please be sure to sign up for the Pinktober Blog Candy if you haven't already. several prize packages will be given away!

hope all of you are doing well! love to you! Jennifer

I Will Gladly Share Pink

Coffee of the Day - Toasted Coconut

I will gladly share pink so that anyone and everyone fighting this horrible beast knows that they are not alone. I will not give up because I fight this battle for my family. they will know that we can have things in life that might knock us sideways, but we are strong and we fight because love matters.

I might grow weary of what is being called 'pinkwashing', but I will continue to hope and pray for cures for EVERY disease. I want to see more research. I want to see less of Big Pharma and high medication costs.

FYI - if at all possible, please make sure that those pink products you see and purchase truly are supporting breast cancer research. more and more information is appearing that companies are using the pink ribbon as nothing more than a marketing tool to put money into their own coffers, with little or no money going to the intended sponsor. actually, you should do this for any organization that states it is donating a portion of its proceeds to a specific non-profit agency. also, are those pink products actually cancer inducing or detrimental in the first place? one that is in the news this week is from a fracking company. that doesn't make a lick of sense..... destroy the planet but donate 10 cents to breast cancer? no, I don't think I'll buy that pink drill bit, thank you very much.

I will continue to collect every single support stamp set I can get my hands on so that I may make cards to send along to others fighting any incurable disease. we are all in this together. no one goes through this journey called life alone.

I will gladly share pink always, always, always. and I will not give up hope.

Love You More Than Bacon....and World Card Making Day! :)

Coffee of the Day - Caramel Bacon Pecan (using the last drops of my bacon syrup.... heavy sigh.....)

Now for those of you who know me and my card style, you are probably gonna need to sit down for this one. you'll be quite shocked. it's kinda CAS. yeah, I know you are just downright gobsmacked about now....

but it is for a really really really good cause! I promise! :)

I'm adding this card to the Operation Write Home World Card Making Day Blog Hop.... gosh, I need another cup of coffee after writing that one out. grins!  so in light of the criteria for all of the OWH cards, I needed this card to be pretty simple compared to anything else I make. not to worry, I have every remaining day of this year to keep my shabby/vintage self satisfied. ;)

as I was contemplating just what in the world I could make for OWH that would go along with the 'love' theme, I remembered this amazing Kelly Purkey bacon set. it does have another name, but it will forever be the 'bacon set' to me. :) the set was an exclusive to Simon Says Stamp a while back. the flair was also a KP design for them.

I used the Lawn Fawn speech bubble border die along with the fun set and flair. heart die is from SU! added a wee bit of distressing, a button from my stash, and some red baker's twine. easy peasy. :)  the speech bubble portion is actually the top flap of the card. the 'I heart you....' is stamped on the inside of the card. does that make sense?

just a reminder for anyone who is interested to join my Pink-tober blog candy here at this post.

Happy World Card Making Day to all of you! now I'm off to go get all pink and glittery and inky since my OWH card is done. tee hee! will catch ya laters, babe!

btw - here is a link to the current needs at OWH.

QKR - anything goes

Crafters Cafe - punches and/or die cuts (both)

Our Newest Family Member!

Coffee of the Day - Almond Joy

On Monday Mick was able to rescue this wonderful lab/American bulldog mix from the shelter down near where he lives in Kent. the pup has a new name of Buster for his new life with Mick! we are all so very excited to welcome him into the Scull family!! :)  the top pix are from Brutus's professional photo shoot at the rescue shelter. these next few are from when Mick took him to the park and then when they got back to Mick's apt.

Brutus and Mick came for a visit to our home on Tuesday while Dave and I took a trip to Indiana to see Ryan for a belated birthday visit. Mick was taking care of our pups here at the house while we were gone for 2 days. evidently Mocha was not too thrilled to have a new family member, but Latte took it all in stride. considering the dogs here are over 12 years old and Brutus is about 2, things went pretty well! :)

we had a great visit with Ryan at IWU. God is just doing such amazing things in Ryan's life there. even though he is so far away, it makes my heart so happy to hear him talk of all that is happening. I am so very proud of Ryan, and his brothers, too!  here is a link to an interview with Ryan done for a neat FB group from his school if you are interested. :)

I am trying to play catch-up on emails and computer stuff today, but should have my Pink-tober blog candy  up by Saturday for World Card Making Day! there will be one big prize and 2 smaller ones, so that gives several people an opportunity to win!  I hope you will stop back by!

take care and know I am thinking of you today! :)
