Watercolor San Antonio Riverwalk

Winner at Eureka Stamps
Cards in Envy Favorite

Coffee of the Day - Dulce de Leche

I've been playing around in my craft room with my gelatos, watercolor paper, and digital images. it's so much fun to just get into an inky mess sometimes. :)

Problem is that photographs, at least mine, can't capture all of the sparkle, texture, and color of the actual image. in real life (irl) it is sooooooo cool!

I printed the San Antonio Riverwalk digi image from Eureka right onto my watercolor paper then went to town with both regular and metallic gelatos. I added details with my watercolors. the water has such a gorgeous shine that is hard to see in the photo.

papers are from the Basic Grey Dear Heart collection, linen thread and banner die are from SU!, sentiment stamp is from a company that is no longer in business, and sequins are from Lawn Fawn. ribbon snippets and vintage buttons are from my stash. acrylic paint edges the card base.

hope your weekend is off to a most fabulous start! thanks for stopping by! :)

Winner at Kraftin' Kimmie's Wonderful Wednesday
Winner at Morgan's Art World Facebook Page

Hurrying to post this card before a challenge deadline.... that's me.... sliding in by the seat of my pants! thought I had until the end of the month. nope! ;)

The 'Ballerina' image by Morgan's Art World was offered for several days as a freebie over in their Facebook group. it can be found now for a special price in the store.

I paired it with digital papers from Far Far Hill and a sketch from The Outlawz. flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts, vivid pink seam binding is from Really Reasonable Ribbon, pink lace is from Michaels, sentiment is by Create with TLC, and buttons are from my vintage stash.

I sprayed some white Mr. Huey's over the card before adhering the main image. small pearls were added below the sentiment. flower centers on the main image were dotted with a pink spica glitter pen.

Today starts a new challenge over at Aud Sentiments and our theme is 'Animals plus a sentiment.'

papers are from the Basic Grey Lauderdale collection, flower is from Michael's and was painted a bit to make it match, wave dies are from Whimsy stamps, and main die is by Spellbinders.

I added dots of Mr. Huey's shine spray to create water dots and then added polka dots to his swimming trunks with a white gel pen. my SU! ink squirty tool adds multi colored sprays of ink across the lower portion of the card base.

navy seam binding wraps across the bottom of the card while bits of parrot green netting peek out from the corners. a few buttons complete the fun! :)

Psalm 9:10 for Word Art Wednesday

The Crafter's Cafe Winner
Top 3 Pick at Scribbles Designs

Coffee of the Day - Carrot Cake

Hello! So happy to be on the Word Art Wednesday blog today with my last post as a guest designer for them. what a privilege to have been asked! thank you, Karen!

Today's word art is especially poignant since I have been needing so very many sympathy cards lately. there is so much comfort to be found in the hope & promise of Scripture.

in our church district, Dave & I have the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people. we travel to various churches over the many states served in the District. this card will be going to the pastor and his wife at one of these churches, since they are sadly in need of a sympathy card.

digital papers are from the Prima Anna Lee collection, butterflies are by A Day for Daisies, flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts, and buttons are from my vintage stash. several of the butterflies were printed and colored twice, then adhered only down the center to give a more dimensional effect. the centers of the butterflies are coated in distress stickles while the wings are covered in Mr. Huey's clear shine spray.

Turquoise plaid ribbon that I distressed with ink sits over the top of pink satin double ruffle ribbon. a re-purposed postage stamp adds interest next to a doily snippet.

thanks for stopping by! check back in just a bit for my Really Reasonable Ribbon post. :)

Keep it Happy, Little Frog!

Any Stamp Winner at Eureka Stamps
Winner at The Paper Girls

Coffee of the Day - Southern Spiced Pecan

Hello to all of you! hope the sun is shining on you, wherever you are in this great big world! :)

With all that has been going on with my family, I've gotten behind with some of my personal 'fun' crafting. one of those projects was using a Friday Freebie image from Scrapper's Delights called 'Froggy Frog' that was available last month to members of the Facebook group for a limited time. our middle son, Mick, has always had a fondness for frogs, so I knew this would make a fun card to send to him if I ever had a chance to get one made.

I combined the cutey frog with another image from Scrapper's Delights called 'Lily Pad Scene 2.' one of the houses we used to live in had a huge pond behind it and I could always find Mick out back catching toads and frogs. :) I think he'll appreciate this card wishing him good luck on finals! especially since he is studying to be a Wildlife Resources Manager!

I made the card into a gate fold, using papers from the Basic Grey Hillside collection. all dies are from Spellbinders and the sentiment is by Create with TLC. burlap ribbon is by May Arts and natural burlap string that ties the vintage button is from Really Reasonable Ribbon. I added a little dragonfly charm to the main image.

have a most amazing day and thanks for stopping by!

Tips for Distressing Ribbon and Mother's Day Card

Coffee of the Day - Carrot Cake

Happy Monday, everyone!

With Mother's Day right around the corner, I knew I needed to get a card made for my Mother in Law so I could get it in the mail soon along with her gift. I turned to the RRR current monthly club kit for my inspiration.

The turquoise gingham in the kit is one of my very faves! I knew I needed to use it on my Mother's Day card, without a doubt!  I'm also addicted to every color of the seam binding, so I use it on almost every project I make it seems.

my card took on a shabby/vintage flair, so my ribbons needed to follow suit. one of the things I love about almost every ribbon at RRR is how easy it is to distress them.

the turquoise gingham was run through kraft ink to give it a county/shabby feel. you could also use a kraft marker to achieve the same effect.

the forsythia seam binding was slightly dampened. while wet, I added small amounts of 2 different shades of ink to my hands and crumpled it all up into a small ball. I kept rolling and rolling the seam binding into a ball, similar to what you would do with clay or play dough until I had achieved the desired effect - lots of wrinkles and different shades. unravel and it's ready to use! if the seam binding is still damp, just let it air dry or hit it very fast with a heat gun.

the mulberry flowers are just as easy to distress. the turquoise chrysanthemum was a bit bright, so I added a wash of kraft ink with a watercolor brush. used the same technique to change the color of the white one, too. easy peasy! pale yellow open roses and a mini sweetheart blossom were added to the floral bouquet.

natural burlap string is tied through the large vintage button. the digital papers are from the Prima Anna Lee collection, which matches the gift I made for her. digital library card printable is from Cameo Shoppe, and the Mom digi is by SheepSki Designs as part of the Outlawz progressive challenge. distress stickles was added to both the digi and the little tag.

be sure to play along in our current challenge at Really Reasonable Ribbon, "Things with Wings and ribbon or trim!"

Things with Wings Challenge at RRR

Ooh La La Winner at My Sheri CRAFTS
Color Spotlight Project at Outlawz Color Challenges

Coffee of the Day - Maple Fudge

We have a new challenge over at the Really Reasonable Ribbon blog starting today, and the theme is 'Things with Wings.' I hope you will not only play along with us, but also stop by the blog to see the beautiful projects made by some of my team mates! they are so talented and constantly inspire me with the things they create! :)

Several weeks ago, my hubby and I were out for a walk at Camp. I came across this gorgeous piece of wood and knew it would make a neat piece of art.

the wood was first mod podged to seal it. I added moss and a wonderful piece of rusted and painted chicken wire I came across at Hobby Lobby. tiny sweetheart blossoms by Wild Orchid Crafts were added.

the birds were created from templates I found online and a box that once held microwave popcorn. ;) nothing like re-purposing what's around the house! each bird is several layers thick.

Birds were covered in Prima Anna Lee digital papers, edged in SU! glitter glass and stickles, and then tied with peacock alley & baby pink seam binding. I used vintage buttons for their eyes.

even the little nest is made from ribbons! I used a fabulous tutorial by my creative muse, Melissa Phillips, found here on her blog, Lily Bean Paperie. I used copper forest hand dyed silk, chestnut mini ric rac, and natural burlap string.

I searched and searched the stores for little bird eggs, but couldn't find them anywhere. ended making my own out of modeling clay. think they turned out cute! used my SU! ink squirty tool to add little speckles. of course the nest needed to sit on some branches, so grabbed a few from my yard. 2 cottage roses surround the nest.

just a reminder that if you want to see more detail on any photo, just click the piccy and it will take you to a larger one in a separate page.

this is going to my MIL for her Mother's Day gift. sure hope she likes it! :)

I hope this project inspires you to see art wherever you are and try something new!
enjoy your weekend! :)

Pink Mitten Victorian Christmas Card

Coffee of the Day - Highlander's Grog (butterscotch and caramel flavor)

Today begins a new challenge over at Aud Sentiments Challenges, with a fun 'Anything Goes' theme. Our sponsor is My Artistic Adventures, a lovely Etsy store of digital print outs with a vintage theme.

I chose to work with the Pink Victorian Mitten files for my cards. it doesn't show in the photo, but these are actually file folder cards.

I first applied the Crafter's Workshop mini harlequin stencil to the folders and used white craft ink. pink glimmer mist was sprayed over the top. various elements from the digital file were fussy cut and distress before adhering to the folders. platinum stickles decorate some of the edges while frosted snow stickles was used on her muff. small dots of stickles accent the holly berries. I used a clear spica glitter pen to add garland to the tree.

Madison crochet lace trim from Really Reasonable Ribbon accents the tops of each mitten, bows made of baby pink seam binding are tied across the bottom, and little snippets of moss gingham were stapled to the uppermost corners. pretty poinsettias are from Michael's and were painted a pale shade of pink to match.

I hope you will join our fun challenge! and thank you so much for stopping by. :)

Gingham Cherry Card Set for the RRR Blog Hop

Top 3 at Quick Quotes

Coffee of the Day - Cinnamon Hazelnut

Welcome to my stop on the Really Reasonable Ribbon Blog Hop! :) grab a cuppa and sit back for a moment while I share a little project made with our current lovely set of ribbons in the monthly kit!

You should have arrived here from Ginny's absolutely gorgeous blog. if at any time you ever get lost, head over to the RRR blog for the complete list. plus you'll want to be sure to stop there at the end for the magic question. one lucky person who comments will win the monthly ribbon kit! you know you want to be the winner! :)

I decided to make a set of cards to give as a gift later on. I've used several of the ribbons in the kit. as much as I simply ADORE the turquoise gingham plaid (because I've bought quite a bit of it!!!), I decided to go with the red houndstooth and sheer cherries.

I started with a base of kraft card stock, inked the edges, added red gingham paper by Die Cuts with a View and faux stitching (after distressing edges), some solid red cs, and a doily cut from a paper bag with a die by Prima. whew... that's a lot! ;)

the cherry tags are from the Cameo Shoppe and matted on brown cs. edges were again distressed. sentiment dies are by Tim Holtz. one tag is mounted on foam tape to give a bit of dimension. a little scrap of cardboard was adhered beneath the the tag on foam tape.  a Tim Holtz paper clip holds a tiny banner punched from kraft cs.

the red houndstooth ribbon is tied across the bottom of the card into a bow. red burlap string ties a little cherry charm to the bow. flowers include red trellis roses, red aster daisies, white sweetheart blossoms, pink cosmos, and lillies.

I recently saw a challenge calling for the whitewash technique, so even though these are too late to qualify, I thought it would be fun to give it a try. it was fun and fit perfectly with the country feel.

thanks so much for stopping by! now hop on along to Amber's fun blog to see what wonderful project she has made to inspire your creativity! :)

also there is a big sale going on over at the RRR store! check the blog for the appropriate codes.

RIP, Precious Mocha

Coffee of the Day - Irish Creme

Yesterday our precious pup, Mocha, passed away. I can't even begin to express the overwhelming sadness and despair we all feel. her sister, Latte, died last June, and Mocha hasn't really been the same since.

Tyler, Danielle, and Mocha

The house is far too quiet. one or the other of the 2 dogs would always lie in the doorway of my craft room when I was in there. the thought of going in to my room is almost too much to bear right now. I would talk to Mocha these past few months when I was busy making things. she didn't want to be alone with her sister gone, so she followed me everywhere. at least until Dave came home. then she never left his side. he was her forever buddy. :)

she loved her Daddy! :)

But I know we'll meet again. until then, she and Latte are playing in the fields again, chasing groundhogs and playing with the foxes.

thanks for taking care of us, Mocha. we will always love you, puppy!

Bird Blooming Sympathy Card

Coffee of the Day - Dulce de Leche

It's Friday! the weekend is almost here! :) I hope you have some fun things on your calendar! I have LOTS of craft projects that I simply MUST get caught up on.

Today is my cousin's funeral, so it's fitting that I am sharing the last of his family's sympathy cards. I also want to show a photo taken of him with his children. it's several years old, but definitely captures the love they all share for one another. :)

RIP, Dan. we love and miss you.

my card uses the pretty image from A Day for Daisies called, 'Bird Blooming.' papers are from the Basic Grey Hillside collection, dies are by Spellbinders, grass green seam binding is from Really Reaonable Ribbon, flower is from Wild Orchid Crafts, and buttons are from my vintage stash. once again, that all purpose sentiment is by SU!   you can tell I sure do get a lot of use out of it!

a few accent dots were added with a white gel pen. I did add some little touches to the mulberry magnolia with inks and watercolor brushes to have it match a bit closer.

General Store Sympathy Card

Coffee of the Day - Spiced Hazelnut

Almost finished sharing the sympathy cards for my cousin's family. seems appropriate since today is the viewing at the funeral home and tomorrow will be the service and burial. it's been tough making all of these and knowing I can't be in Texas with all of the family. hopefully the cards will bring a bit of comfort in the days ahead. if you have a moment, I know they would appreciate a prayer. thank you so much for the kind and thoughtful comments you have left here on the blog and on Facebook. they mean a great deal to me. :)

Today's card uses a wonderful stamp I received as a prize. it's a fairly new release from Little Darling Stamps, Dove Studios, called 'General Store.' gingham paper is from Die Cuts with a View. a bit of torn paper bag was added, along with some burlap ribbon from May Arts, vintage buttons, ticket, and tag tied with seam binding from Really Reasonable Ribbon. sentiment stamp is by SU!

thank you ever so much for stopping by! :)

Wooden Deer Hanging

Coffee of the Day - Creamy Chestnuts

Hey there, ribbon fans! :)

I have a different kind of altered project to share with all of you today. Back in January, some friends invited my husband & I to their cabin in the woods of Pennsylvania for a weekend getaway. we had such a lovely time, walking in the snow and watching the deer come right up to the house.

As we were putting wood into the stove one evening, I saw this cute little piece that I knew would make 'something' special one day and asked if I could have it. our friend handed it right over.

I decided it would be the perfect 'thank you' gift for our friends when a few little doo dads were added here and there.

Really Reasonable Ribbon to the rescue!

here is that piece of wood, all gussied up and pretty-fied!

the deer tag image from Polly's Paper Studio was mod podged to the base, topped with a small piece of 2 1/2" plain cotton ribbon, die cuts added, and then decorated with Wild Orchid Crafts mulberry open roses & Chrysanthemums. the same cotton ribbon was used as a hanging loop and tied with hand dyed silk.

die cuts are from Memory Box and Cheery Lynn.

try something new and try an altered project! it's so much fun! :) and I do apologize for the shine on the deer tag image. I was trying a different photo editing software, and frankly am not too impressed with it. will be using my regular one again.

be sure to enter the current challenge at Really Reasonable Ribbon, too!

In My Thoughts and Prayers Daisies

Coffee of the Day - Pumpkin Spice

Hey there, blogging fans! I'm treading in tender waters here, as I've been fighting migraines off and on for a while now. a nasty one hit yesterday and really hit me hard. makes it tough to get any crafting done, that is for sure, those rotten things! ;)

anyhow, sharing another sympathy card for my cousin's family today. this one uses the pretty 'Daisy Window' image from A Day for Daisies.  papers are from the Basic Grey Vivienne collection, pearl flourish is from Michael's, seam binding (that I distressed) is found at Really Reasonable Ribbon, sentiment stamp is from a set by Unity. flower centers are covered in distress stickles and little accent dots are made with a white gel pen.

again, keeping the design fairly simple.

I Will Give You Rest Flower Fairy

Top 3 Pick at Robyn's Fetish

Coffee of the Day - Carrot Cake

It's the weekend! Hooray!

I'm sharing with all of you yet another of the sympathy cards I'm making for my cousin's family. I'm almost finished with them - just a few more to do. hope to get them completed this weekend if all goes well.

Today's card uses a precious little image from A Day for Daisies called 'Baby Cherry Blossom' and a verse given away over at Word Art Wednesday.

I confess that I first saw the verse this week and knew immediately that I wanted to use it. I was looking through my ADFD images on my computer and came across the cherry blossom one. it wasn't until the entire thing was printed and on my craft desk that I actually saw the little flower fairy hidden inside the image. C.S. Lewis and J. R. R. Tolkien were both Christians and used fairy folk in their writings, so I guess my one little card should be okay. ;)

papers are from the Basic Grey Typeset and Dear Heart collections, buttons are from my vintage stash, bay leaf seam binding (that I aged and distresd) is from Really Reasonable Ribbon, mini sweetheart blossom is from Wild Orchid Crafts, and little banner punch is by SU!  a wink of stella glitter pen was used to add sparkle to the main image.

enjoy your day! :)

ADFD - add glitter (used the glitter pen)
