Not Quite Yet...

Coffee of the Day - Coconut Salted Caramel

Sorry that I haven't posted any craft projects yet. a nasty migraine has taken hold, and I am having a tough time with it right now. I take medication daily to deal with these, so it's been a long time since one has knocked me out to this level.

hope to be back in the game again soon. so very sorry to disappoint. just as soon as I think I have it licked, it comes creeping back again. :( yuck.

here's a photo that Danielle sent to me last night of a banner that she made. she and her maid of honor were able to get several made. isn't it so pretty? several of the ribbons are from Really Reasonable Ribbon. I think this gives a total of about a dozen that have been made so far. some of them have burlap and denim banner pieces in them with the ribbons and trims. lots of vintage laces are added to them as well.

Feel Better Fairy

Coffee of the Day - Amaretto

Just a quickie post this evening. it's been crazy around here with the flu and car troubles. yuck to both of those. hope like at your house is much more fun! :)

I wanted to play along in a neat challenge going on at both The Outlawz group as well as the Scrapper's Delight Facebook group. Outlawz had a sketch challenge and Scrapper's Delight had a freebie image challenge. I combined both on my card. :)

image is from Scrapper's Delight, papers are from the Basic Grey Typeset collection, sentiment stamp by My Favorite Things, butterfly die by Cat's Pajamas, flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts, and buttons & seam binding are vintage.

fairy wings are covered with a wink of stella clear glitter pen. butterflies have similar accents as well as dots made with a white gel pen.

I'll be back tomorrow with a post for Paper Temptress. see you then! :) until then, enjoy your weekend!

Feeling a Little Horse...

Coffee of the Day - Toffee Cream

I have come to discover that painting horses is so not my thing. after spending  more than 2 1/2 hours working on just the watercolor portion of one, I ended up throwing it in the trash and starting over. NOT FUN, needless to say. you would think after growing up around them that this wouldn't be a difficulty for me. nope. trouble city.

but I was asked to make a get well card for someone who's aunt loves horses. so I persevered. and it came out okay, but let's hope I don't have to do another one anytime soon. oh ick. I DO! I still have my western cards to finish this week.... oh well. bring it on, says the woman who loves to wear her brave boots! ha! ;)

so the horse image is from QKR Stampede, papers are from the Soleil collection by Basic Grey, ribbon is from SU!, buttons are all vintage, and flowers are Wild Orchid Crafts. a small piece of burlap ribbon from May Arts sits under the flowers.

as with the photo from the prior post, this had to be taken quickly so hubby could get it to the person who requested the card. didn't have time to get my proper photo set-up put together.

Tomorrow is the last day to enter my Birthday Blog Candy, so be sure you have added your name!
Have a great week! :)

Quick Get Well Sketch Card

Hey, Everyone!
I'm back with another card to post. this is a quick card using a sketch for a challenge that is ending in just a few hours. hence, not only my 2nd post of the day, but also the fairly fast card.

I have been wanting to use this adorable image that I received for free from Judy over at Bluejeans, Coffee, and Friends. she is so kind to offer a free image each month if you just pop her an email to request it.

I knew I wanted to play with this cutey because it reminded me so much of myself when I was a little girl. my kitty cat and I were inseparable! she even went on trips with me, and I had a special basket on my bike so she could ride along. yep, we were THAT close!

You might remember that I have a friend who is going through some icky health stuff. I wanted to send another card to her, but I did want this one to fit in a regular mailing envelope. the majority of my cards are either hand delivered or go in padded mailers because of all the extra 'stuff' I add. I kept this one simple and flat so it could easily go through the mail. (crossing fingers anyhow!)

papers are from the Basic Grey Soleil collection and the dies are by Lawn Fawn. a little bit of SU! linen thread and dots with my white gel pen finish the card. because my friend LOVES purple, I created a 'ribbon' for the kitty to play with! :)

I do apologize for the icky poo photo. I was in a hurry and took it with my phone.

Sorry

Coffee of the Day - Buttered Rum

so sorry I haven't been around much. my seizures started up again over the weekend and have been going gangbusters. :(   most of my time has been spent in bed, as the computer really hurts my head and makes them much worse.

sadly, no crafting is being done. was happy just to get a shower today, but that completely wore me out.

(this little instant coffee & tea vintage get well image gave me the giggles!
thought you might enjoy it today!)

one blog candy package has been mailed, and the other one should go out tomorrow. a few of you had a bit of a surprise in your emails, I do believe. thank the random mr. froggy for choosing you! grins! :)

hope to be back soon and get around to all of your wonderful blogs! much love to all of you! Jennifer

I Didn't Fall....but my son did....

Coffee of the Day - Texas Turtle (caramel, pecan, chocolate)

So last weekend our son, Ryan, broke his big toe while playing Ultimate Frisbee for his college team. he is now on crutches for the next few weeks. he'll be out of commission for about 6 weeks. it's really tough being so far away while he's going through this. so of course I had to make him a card. :)

Digital Delights by Looby Lou just released this fun image that is absolutely PERFECT! I can't tell you how hard it was to find something suitable. not many digis are out there for these kind of cards. papers are Basic Grey Carte Postal, sentiment is from Ginger's House. the card base was inked with the inside of a bubble mailer. pretty simple card design, but I think it works for a guy card!

Here is my ribbon storage tip for Top Tip Tuesday: I wrap my ribbons around manilla tags and store the tags in baskets by color. they look so pretty this way! :)

Poor Boo Boo Monster...

Coffee of the Day - Vanilla Nut

A young man we all know and love took a bit of a tumble and is in need of a 'pick me up' kind of card.... seems his longboard went one direction that was a bit unexpected, so gravity took over with a lovely THUD! What a perfect opportunity to make a card for the new DigiMakeover challenge - Monster Mash! those monsters at Paper Makeup Stamps always give me the giggles, and this little fella is no exception.

I added a few little white polka dots to our unhappy BooBoo monster with my white gel pen. His teeth and tears were painted with shimmerz. Papers are from the Basic Grey Shine On collection. a few buttons, some washi tape, baker's twine, little ticket, and a printed senti banner finish the card.

Funny....no one else in the house wants to sign the card before I mail it out....go figure! ;)

Get Well Wishes at Party Time Tuesdays

Coffee of the Day - Toasted Almond (and oh, is it wonderful to be drinking coffee again!)

Happy Valentine's Day to all of you! How wonderful to have a day where we can tell everyone just how much we love them! :)

Today begins a new challenge over at Party Time Tuesdays - get well wishes. Seemed kinda funny to be finishing this card AFTER I got over being sick.... tee hee! can't even tell you how nice it is to be feeling better. on my way to 100% - wooooo hooooooo!

One of our many wonderful sponsors this week is Karen's Doodles. I used this cutie turtle and his mousie buddy for my card. the senti comes from Paulette at Create with TLC. papers are Authentique Freebird. another of our sponsors, for the entire month actually, is ZVA Creative. they provided the beautiful rhinestone flourish and green rose in the top right corner. I added a little tea tag, because when I am not feeling good, nothing helps soothe like a hot cup of tea!

So pop on by the challenge blog to see all of the wonderful projects made by the DT. then I hope you will be inspired to play along with us. :)

Fetch A Sketch - sketch
Paper Creations Ink - recipe
Crafty Pad - 'b' is for..... button, bling, bed, buddies, bow
Crafty Emma's - 3 or more layers
Our Creative Corner - best friend (made for a friend who is under the weather)

A Get Well Squirrel

Coffee of the Day - Pumpkin Spice
Holy Toledo, Batman, do you realize it has been almost a week since I last posted?! shame shame shame on me! Well hopefully now that the holidays are over and there are no more icky yucky blechy trips to the hospital for tests on the horizon, things will settle back down to the normal chaotic hum of life around here. ;) don't get me wrong - Christmas has a LOT of meaning, but goodness, we let it get so crazy sometimes. and the people at the hospital and doctors' offices are very nice, but gosh oh me, I am so tired of going for tests and stuff. so there. back to crafty fun time! as Cptn. Jon Luc Picard says, "Make it so......" giggles! yep, there is that nerdy side coming out in me again......

On to the card for today......

I found a neat challenge blog called The Sweet Stop and it is sponsored by Sweet n Sassy Stamps. I decided to play in this week's challenge, as I found I needed a get well card. A dear blogging and crafting friend, Stef of Glitterbabe Greetings, let us know Christmas Eve that her husband had been rushed to the hospital with a heart attack. All around the crafting community people have been gathering together to pray for them. Hopefully Clyde will be coming home today, but there had been a few complications that arose while he was in the hospital. Stef has just the brightest outlook and has been trusting that her dear hubby is resting in God's healing hands this entire time. Well, we all know that, but it can still be a lonely time, and a scary one, too. So dear sweet Holly over at the Squigglefy SNR forum decided to host a challenge for people to create get well cards for Clyde. I was gonna make one anyhow, but wanted to do my part to rally around. Isn't it cool how people from different stamping companies, etc. can come together to just love on someone?! man, that is the love of Jesus in action right there for ya! gives me goosebumps thinking about it! and makes my heart sing LOUD!!!! :)

So here is my creation. Had to keep the frills and frou frou to a minimum, but wanted it to be a little fun also. Used the squirrel digi from The Rusty Pickle and typed out a sentiment. Did some repurposing of materials on here as well. The leaves in the upper right hand corner were actually punched from a Starbuck's coffee cozy I had saved and wrinkled prior to punching. The twine in the buttons came from a bag of dog food. papers are Making Memories.

By the way, while on the subject of recycling, repurposing, & re-using, last night I was honored to receive an invitation from none other than Deanne Burton herself to become a member of her card DT at Create It - GREEN. There will be challenges and other fun things coming up in the new year, so be on the look out! I am very excited about this, as doing a lot of repurposing is at the top of my resolution list for 2010.
