Meet the Newest Member of our Family

Coffee/Tea of the Day - Cinnamon French Toast coffee

Hooray, it's the weekend!

I ended up not feeling too well this week, plagued by nasty migraines and seizures, so crafting was not on the agenda unfortunately. but I wanted to share with all of you about the newest member of our family.

over the past few years we have sadly had to say goodbye to our precious pups, Brutus and Palmer. it's still hard to type this without crying. we are 'those' people whose dogs and cats are huge parts of the family. their loss is devastating.

so last January David had finally decided that he was ready for a new dog. we had been watching the website of our favorite rescue center when he saw a chocolate lad puppy. so off we went.

we brought home Watson, a 6 month old chocolate lab/Chesapeake Bay retriever mix. he is so full of personality and enthusiasm for EVERYYHING!

he has quickly grown into a big cuddly bear. like all of our dogs, he absolutely loves going to camp every day to run and play and greet everyone. we are so very blessed to have him in our lives! :)

have a fantastic weekend!

Journal Cabinet

Coffee/Tea of the Day - Caramel Vanilla coffee

Top Pick at Crafting from the Art

Hi there!
I'm almost finished retrieving files and folders from my corrupt external hard drive. have saved as much as I can. still so much has been lost though. lesson to me to back up the back up! I did learn that most external hard drives only have a 3-5 year lifespan. I would have thought it would be much more than that.

anyhow, as I was going through my blog trying to save photos, I realized that I never shared the picture of the cabinet I made to hold all of Ryan and Elizabeth's journals. there are 5 journals total, each with about 40 or so pages. it was fun to make the cabinet. my sweet hubby helped by cutting the mdf board for me.

inside and outside are covered in Tim Holtz papers and then edged with his washi tapes. I did use mod podge to adhere the papers as well as seal them. this helps keep the cabinet somewhat protected. each journal is covered in Tim Holtz fabrics. you can't see it in the photo, but the cabinet does have pretty little feet to elevate it.

I plan to make cabinets for Mick and Tyler's journals, too, but must finish baby journals first.

hopefully I can get some crafting done this week to share. have a fabulous day!

A re-post that I most certainly needed

Coffee/Tea of the Day - Pumpkin Spice coffee

Hello to everyone! I hope you are having a great weekend so far.

I was sad to discover that I lost the entire folder of my craft project phots when my external hard drive became corrupted. that's more than 20 years of photos, just gone. so I've been spending the past few days going through each post on my blog to save what pictures I can. it's been quite eye opening. my style has changed and also circled back around over the years.

the thing that has struck me more than anything is how I used to share my faith. I've gotten away from that for whatever reason. my faith certainly hasn't changed, but how I express it definitely has.

I came across this post from 2013. I have no recollection of the circumstances that prompted me to write, but I was impacted by the reminder that this message holds just as true today, with our political and social climate being less than kind and loving toward 'others'.

I'll share the entire post here, or you can follow the link to the original.
may God speak to your heart in the same way He has spoken to mine, both then and now.

love to all of you!
Jennifer

one day I will stand in front of God and have to answer many questions about how I lived my life. one of these, I'm sure, will be "did you love my people?" how will I be able to look Him in the eyes and say, "well, I chose to love only certain ones, God. some had different opinions than I did, some looked different than I did, some well, they just weren't really that clean or smelled kinda funky, so they weren't all that easy to love. and gosh, God, some just weren't very nice. some were down right mean to me."

and I have a feeling God will shake his head in sadness and reply to me, "and what about those times when you were mean and outspoken and said things in anger you didn't really intend to come out the way they did? or that time back in the 80's (and 90's) when you were just kind of a pain and thought you knew everything, but in fact still had a lot to learn about kindness? how lovable were you then? and didn't someone still wipe your brow and soothe your soul and tell you how beautiful you were?"

and He will remind me of the people who dropped off food at our back door when David didn't have a job or sent cards or texts when I was going through chemo or built a front porch as I went through more treatments for my cancer or the outpouring of cards when Tyler was hit by a car or the multitudes of other blessings that happen each and every day.

He will let me know that no matter what my sin, I was loved always and there were people who let me know.
so by following in HIS footsteps, I have to pass along that same love to others - regardless of their life choices. I am to love others unconditionally. understand that I am not asked to love the sin, but instead to love the sinner, for that is what each and every one of us is. we are all on a journey and can only do this with the help of one another and God's grace.

I am not the judge. I do not sit in judgement upon anyone. I can't. it's not my job. I am only called to love my neighbor. and I am working on it. it's not easy. it's one of the hardest commandments in the Bible. but it's worth it. we have to help each other out, not push each other down. that is what it means to be a follower of Christ, in my opinion.

I'm not here to debate the Bible - just stating my thoughts and opinions. each of us is entitled to our own. I'm weary of the hate and mud slinging from both sides. A & E has a right to suspend whomever they want as far as I am concerned. it's their network, they can do what they want. The Robertsons can say what they want when they are away from the series. they have that right as well. I just don't necessarily agree with them.

Bundle of Joy Journaling Card and Envelope

Coffee/Tea of the Day - Mint Thyme tea

It's the weekend! woohoo!

I'm sharing with you today a little repurposed envelope that holds a journaling card. it's to go in the baby journal for our granddaughter, Elowen. her journal will have a forest theme, with an emphasis on trees. her name is Cornish for elm tree. isn't that beautiful?

I've taken a piece of an envelope and turned it into a tuck pocket. the journaling cad is fairly blank on the other side so that a photo can be added. I'm currently thinking that this will also become a tuck spot, allowing for a larger piece of ephemera to be placed behind it. to do this would mean that the left side and lower edge would be adhered to the journal page. I'll know more once I get the actual pages made and the book bound.

the main collection of papers I will be using for this journal is from an older Graphic 45 set called Little One. I'll try to mention any other papers I use along the way.

Everyone have a fantastic weekend!

Ugh. Computer Issues

Coffee/Tea of the Day - Mint Thyme tea

Hello!
I'm hoping to be able to share at least one project this week for the baby journals I am working on, but am currently swamped trying to recover as many files as possible from my external hard drive.

I had started to discover over the past month that I had access to fewer and fewer of the files saved on my external hard drive. the more I investigated, the more I seemed to lose. it's been devastating. I don't save much to my actual computer, but instead have relied on the external hard drive for EVERYTHING. I've lost all of my digital paper files, which alone total in the thousands. some of the paper brands are no longer in business, so it really is tragic. we are hoping that the experts at the computer repair store can retrieve at least some of those files. crossing fingers.

my mistake for not backing up from my backup. we learn the hard way, don't we?
so crafting has been pushed a bit further down the to-do list.

thank you to those of you who have so kindly stopped by in the past few weeks. it means a lot!

have a most amazing day!

Still in Love

Coffee/Tea of the Day - Earl Grey Lavender tea

Hi there! I realize that this is a Valentine share on the day after Valentine's Day, but hubby and I are celebrating the holiday this evening.  There was a group at Camp this weekend, so it will be our first bit of time together.

The main image is again from Gecko Galz. it reminds me so much of David and I in our much younger days. I still love that guy so much, even after all of our years together. blessed, so very blessed. the free image can be found on their blog on this post.

some papers by Stamperia and Echo Park, a pretty doily and twine from Michael's, and some tickets complete the card.

I'll be back to sharing creations for the baby journals I am working on in the upcoming days. thank you for celebrating with me this week the love I have for my family. :)

have a joyous day!

Adorable Valentine Critters

Coffee/Tea of the Day - Caramel Vanilla coffee
Top Pick at Crafty Animals
Top Pick at SUYP

Happy Valentine's Day to all of you!

Today I'm sharing the cards I sent to each of our grandchildren. again, simple so they could be easily mailed, but oh, so cute!

The images all come from the Valentine Quirky Animals digital set by the Pixel Petite Etsy shop. I'm super impressed with everything I have purchased from this store. it all prints out beautifully, which doesn't always happen with digis.

Doilies, tickets, and postage stamps embellish the cards. the sentiment is from a Tim Holtz stamp set.

I've also used a wink of Stella glitter pen to add accents on each image. I don't think they show up well in the photos though.

have a most fantastic weekend, knowing how very loved you are! :)

Vintage Romantic Valentine

Winner at Gecko Galz

Hello again!

The card I'm sharing this afternoon is the Valentine I sent to Tyler and his wife. (I'm so very blessed to have such amazing sons and daughters-in-law!)

The image is from Gecko Galz and was a freebie on their blog this month. I just love the vintage feel to it! Papers are from Carta Bella and Stamperia. the beautiful lace seemed the perfect addition, especially with the pink doily.. a pretty rose sticker is along the side. again, doing what I can to make nice, but flat, cards for easy mailing.

I hope you have an amazing weekend!

On the Road, With Love

Coffee/Tea of the Day - coconut hazelnut coffee

Oh boy, it's Friday the 13th. may it be so very uneventful for you! :D

My Valentine card today is for our son Mick and his wife. I'm using several images from the Gecko Galz collage set "Be My Valentine." you can find so many digitals in their Etsy store. I've noticed that items change quite frequently, so if you see something that interests you, pick it up quick. this set is no longer available,

I hand cut the little road that the cutie couple is traveling on as well as the clouds.. the flowers and sentiment are from another image in the set. papers are from Stamperia and Echo Park. it's a simple card, but perfect for mailing because it's flat.

I'll be back later today with another Valentine card. see you then!

Valentine ATC to Card

Coffee of the Day - Vanilla Hazelnut coffee
Winner at Gecko Galz ATC challenge

Hello! I hope everyone is doing well. :)

Today I am sharing several ATC cards that I made and then converted into full size cards for mailing.

Each month Gecko Galz has several challenges where they supply the images to be used. I am using the sheet provided for the ATC challenge. I used to make these every once in a while and really enjoyed it.

I didn't use the papers provided on the sheet because they printed so very dark. my printer doesn't always handle shades of red well. The bases are from 49 and Market. I've also added pieces of doilies to each ATC, because to me, every Valentine needs a doily. :)

the ATC cards were then turned into standard size cards for mailing using papers from Stamperia, Echo Park, and Pink Monarch Prints. various embellishments such as tickets, glittered tulle, postage stamps, and even part of a wine label complete the cards. I did use a wink of Stella glitter pen to accent several of the images.

I got such a kick out of the sentiments on this sheet because they immediately reminded me of my mother-in-law. Several times a week she boards a bus with her friends from the assisted living facility where she lives and they head to happy hour. They do so love their wine! :D I think she'll enjoy her Valentine!

have a most amazing day and thank you for stopping by! :)

Valentine Angel

Coffee of the Day - Pistachio Latte

Happy Tuesday to all of you!
This week, I'll be sharing some of the Valentine cards I've made for family.

me and my Aunt looking fab for 61 & 90!
October 2025

To begin, this is a card I have made for my precious aunt. She is such a dear, sweet person. David and I were able to visit her in Texas last October. She put together a huge family reunion since it had been almost 30 years since we had seen most of the family. It was amazing to see everyone again. Ryan, Elizabeth, and their baby, Benaiah, joined us for a week. pure joy! We were also able to visit my dad's gravesite, which meant so much to me.

The beautiful angel image was provided by Gecko Galz for their monthly card challenge. papers added are from Stamperia. a pink doily and piece of crochet trim complete the card. I was trying to keep the it as flat as possible for mailing.

I'm trying out a new tripod for my phone in hopes that the pictures are better. please bear with me as I learn to use it. ;)

Thank you for stopping by!
