Coffee of the Day - Pumpkin Spice
Hello! I am officially on my way to becoming a mutant super hero now..... really hoping for some good super powers outta this deal and not some lame-o ones like being able to hear ants talk or some such thing..... radiation is not liking my body very much, and so it's retaliating by being oh so pukey and tired. don't know when I'll be back to crafting. thank goodness I was able to get a bit done last week. this feels like the after-effects of chemo all over again. blech!
But the thing that cracks me up is that every single time I go into the radiation room, they give me grief about my SOCKS! this has been going on for almost a week now.... yep, every day the technicians question me about where I have misplaced my shoes and why in the world am I wearing just socks.....
ummmm..... let's see. I am a 48 year old woman and don't really just 'misplace' my shoes anymore. ;) I don't just look down at my feet and 'discover' that lo and behold I have no shoes on! isn't that a riot?! what happens is this - I don't want to wear my big klunky shoes on that cold metal slab for all that time while they shoot me with gamma rays. it's uncomfortable. I'd rather just lie there in my stocking feet. really no big deal in my opinion, but not a day has passed that they haven't freaked out over it.
I did finally tell them to just cover up my feet and 'stop looking at them' if they were so bothered. for goodness sakes, I'm half undressed as it is, contraptions attached to my chest like some Viking Warrior goddess, and they go on about my FEET! tee hee!
so hopefully by the end of the week I'll be able to pop microwave popcorn just by waving my hand over it....that would be pretty cool. until then I'm thinking of sending hubby to the store for some outlandish socks to keep me going for the next 7 weeks. yep, this Sassy Sister is gonna play it up big time! oh lawsie, you don't think my Sassy gene has mutated, do you?! better strap in then - it's gonna be a lonnnnnng ride! giggles!

My new home away from home....
Coffee of the Day - Spiced Hazelnut

Starting a week from Monday this is going to be my new home away from home through Thanksgiving. I'll be taking 7 weeks of daily radiation treatments, which is actually a week more than we were initially told. it all boils down to the Triple Negative Breast Cancer and the stage the cells were at upon discovery. (or level, I get the 2 mixed up....) and my age. evidently I am on the young side for this to be taking place, so they want to really zap me good. ;) I just hope I get some mighty fine mutant powers out of this deal!
My hair has started to grow back in, and get this - it's coming in silver! whoa nelly that came as quite the shock! I had a few strands here and there before the diagnosis, but evidently the chemo just flat out bleached away all of the brown and gold from my hair. I had been thinking of a pink skunk stripe, but this is almost all silver. I seriously am not going to recognize myself in the mirror....
as for my shoulder, the surgeon, who is fabulous btw, doesn't want to do anything until all cancer treatments are finished. he'll re-evaluate if necessary next year, but the bulk of my pain is coming from a frozen shoulder, not all of the tears. so I am seeing a massage therapist through the new cancer center to help get me ready for radiation to be able to get my arm into proper position. it's not pleasant, but hey, I can put up with most anything these days.
sadly, my seizures have started up again. don't know if it's from the shoulder pain or just the whole shebang.....but that was another lovely little surprise last night. so for the moment I am sitting with my coffee cup enjoying a chipmunk who is playing games on my front porch and just being.....
know that YOU are loved truly, deeply! :)

Coffee of the Day - Pumpkin Spice
Good morning! I realized that in all of the excitement of the Jen's Sunshine blog hop, I had failed to give all of you a final report of the amount raised. I know some of you have been asking, so here ya go -
after all of the proceeds I have received from Paper Makeup Stamps, The Stamping Boutique, and the individual donations, all of YOU have so graciously donated almost $600 to my family! isn't that wonderful?!?!?!?!? we are so touched by your love & kindness! already one of my medical bills has been paid off, so your contributions really have made a difference! thank you so very much! :) Also, because so many of you have asked, I will add the paypal donation button to my sidebar for you. (give me some time to figure out how to do this!)
one dr.'s appt. down this week, oh so many left to go..... blech! don't know if I'll have the time or energy to craft, but sure hope I can.

Poor Boo Boo Monster...
Coffee of the Day - Vanilla Nut

A young man we all know and love took a bit of a tumble and is in need of a 'pick me up' kind of card.... seems his longboard went one direction that was a bit unexpected, so gravity took over with a lovely THUD! What a perfect opportunity to make a card for the new DigiMakeover challenge - Monster Mash! those monsters at Paper Makeup Stamps always give me the giggles, and this little fella is no exception.

I added a few little white polka dots to our unhappy BooBoo monster with my white gel pen. His teeth and tears were painted with shimmerz. Papers are from the Basic Grey Shine On collection. a few buttons, some washi tape, baker's twine, little ticket, and a printed senti banner finish the card.
Funny....no one else in the house wants to sign the card before I mail it out....go figure! ;)

Patterned Paper at Pile it On - Find a Cure
Coffee of the Day - Peppermint Mocha
The challenge this week at Pile it On is to use patterned paper on your project - wow, that is a lot of P's!
that isn't ever a problem for me, but you need to go over to the PIO challenge blog to see how some of the DT really piled those patterned papers on! anyone else feeling the need for a pickled pepper from Peter Piper?! ;)

For my card I used this very special image from Milk Coffee. It was a freebie over on the blog, and I was so touched when it was introduced there. The senti comes from Create with TLC. you can be sure that I use this one a lot as well! papers are from Basic Grey Serendipity and a special breast cancer collection by Karen Foster. I made sure to position the main image so that a portion of the poem could still be read. the last line reads, "I am a survivor." This seemed the perfect way to encourage someone else going through this horrible disease.
both the senti portion and the pink ribbon were sprayed with Pink Cadillac Glimmer Mist for a little shine. buttons are vintage. I think what I love most about this image is that it lets everyone know that you can be both feminine and strong while still being a fighter of cancer. some days I sure don't feel very feminine or very strong, so this gives me a bit of hope!
Tomorrow begins my week of doctor's appts., tests, and hospital visits every day. I hope to have one or 2 posts pre-scheduled, but otherwise you won't see much of me. on the other hand, the medical staff of our area will be seeing WAY toooooo much of me! grins! have a good week!
Challenges:
Stamp with Fun - button
Digi Haven - anything goes with a free digi
Crafts and Me - add a flower
Crafty Pad - breast cancer awareness/think pink
Little Miss Muffet - add writing, text, or script
Shelly's Images - anything goes
Inky Impressions - anything goes
My Mum's Craft Shop - anything goes
Paper Craft Star - girly
Word Art Wed - love and encouraging verse (one of the biggest examples of love I have seen has come from all of YOU in bloggyland while I have been fighting my cancer! thank you!)
Dawn's Crafting - breast cancer awareness and/or pink (my prayers go out to your mom!)
Cupcake Craftroom - pretty pastels
Ladybug Crafts - anything goes
Natalie and Amy's - anything goes
Mema's Crafts - theme (I chose 'Family Affair: Get Well' it suits for me)
Poodle Parlour - here come the girls

Nobody Does it Better than Jellypark!
Coffee of the Day - Pumpkin Spice :)
for the winners of the Jen's Sunshine blog hop, please go down to the next post.
Today starts a new challenge at Jellypark Friday Friends, 'All About the Children.' We want to see projects that showcase our kids, especially since most of them are now back in school. Let's celebrate them! :) We also have a new guest designer for the month of September - the incredibly talented and VERY sweet Tracy MacDonald. please stop by and give her a big welcome!
My card is hopefully already at its destination - our son Mick's college dorm mailbox! :) He is in a big longboard competition this weekend in Michigan and of course Mom thought he needed a card of encouragment! if you aren't familiar with longboards, they are a type of skateboard. Mick is pretty good with his, I must say. He had it specially designed just for him, and he is constantly tweeking it here and there.

The wonderful image is brand new to the Jellypark store. it is called 'Skateboard Oli' and is one of the special Little Haven charity fundraiser images. Claire drew it based on the idea of the winner of the last Jellypark Junior challenge. isn't that the coolest thing?
Papers are from the Basic Grey Shine On collection, twine & washi tape are from Etsy, wonderful arrow tag is from the monthly kit at Freckled Fawn, flair button is from Evalicious, notebook paper sticker is one I made, and buttons are October Afternoon. arrows were die cut from cardboard and then sprayed with Mr. Huey white. same Mr. Huey white was misted over card base in addition to dewey Mr. Huey. well, gosh, that was fun to type! tee hee!
sentiment is from Create with TLC. little itty bitty senti is from a Smash stamper. it reads 'that deserves a fist pump'.
Challenges:
Great Impressions Stamps - sentimental
Sweet 'n Sassy - take me away
Wags 'n Whiskers - sports
Eureka Stamps - go team go (well, my son is going to a longboard competition, so I thought this might work...)
Hooked on Craft - cards for men
By the Cute and Girly - cards for boys or men
Tabitha Designs - men's sports cards
Crafty Sentiments - male card
Creative Craft - all about the boys
Twisted Tuesday - make something for one you love & make it colorful

Coffee and Paper Crafting - Part 1
Coffee of the Day - German Chocolate Cake
I was kindly asked by Jenn over at Just Some Lines to do a tutorial for them. Of course mine had to involve coffee in some form or fashion! and when it comes to coffee and crafting, I have no shortage of ideas, so be on the lookout for part 2 to come later! :)
Ways to Recycle your Coffee & Grounds for Paper Crafting:
Coffee Paper -
1. Take several sheets of plain cardstock and set them on a protected surface.

2. Sprinkle cooled coffee grounds over cardstock & let sit for about 15 minutes.

3. Carefully take each sheet of cs to dumping area, (this could be trash, but I put mine straight into garden for compost! plants eat them up like chocolate! grins!). Flip the cs over so grounds fall into dumping area. it's okay if you still have a few grounds stuck to paper.

4. Let cs dry for several hours until completely dry. You will see a really cool pattern emerge, each sheet different!
5. Gently brush remaining coffee grounds from cs. It's now ready to use! :)
Coffee Stained Ribbons & Trims -
1. Pour cooled coffee (a few grounds added are fun, too!) into a container that has a bit of depth to it. you want your ribbons & trims completely covered in coffee.

2. Add snippets of whatever ribbons & trims you would like to dye. Cotton tends to hold the color better than anything with a high synthetic content. vintage trims are fabulous for this technique!

3. Let soak for at least several hours.
4. Gently rinse under slow tap water to remove any coffee grounds. Be careful to not wash away all dye. If this happens, just repeat steps 2 & 3.
5. Let trims completely dry prior to using.

This is my completed card using the precious Just Some Lines image, 'Fairy Kiss'. papers are from the My Mind's Eye The Sweetest Thing Lavender collection, buttons are vintage, washi tapes are from Etsy, little ticket is Maya Road. card base was also sprayed with Mr. Huey's dewey mist, fairy's wings were covered in stickles, and little polka dots were added to the caterpillar.
Challenges:
Crafty Cardmakers - winged things
There's Magic in the Air - things with wings (hi to all of my former teamies! love your Jen's Sunshine card, Nina!!!)
Tammy's Scrappin' Corner - anything with wings
Creatalicious - fantasy or baby
Live and Love Crafts - lovely lace or terrific trims
Corrosive Challenges - myth and magic
Joanna Sheen - going dotty
Dutch Dare - fantasy

Paper Makeup Stamps & Party Time Tuesdays Challenge Blog
proudly present
"Jen's Sunshine" Blog Hop
This hop will remain open till Tuesday Sept.4th
Winners announced Sept. 7th
I would be terribly remiss if I didn't begin by saying a most heart felt thank you to the ladies behind this blog hop - Jenn, Michelle, and Katie. they have gone above and beyond putting everything together for all of us. My family and I can not express enough how much we appreciate every single person who is participating in the blog hop as well as the numerous stores, companies, and individuals who have so graciously donated prizes. Please please take a moment from the blog hop to stop and tell these people thank you. I am so overwhelmed and blessed! :)

My card uses the fairy image from the Jen's Sunshine set as well as the 'You add sunshine' senti. paper is My Mind's Eye The Sweetest Thing Lavender, wings were coated with shimmerz paint as were her shoes (hey, every girl needs at least ONE pair of pink shoes! I myself have several!!! grins!) buttons are vintage, flower is Prima, leaves from a Martha Stewart punch, washi tape & baker's twine are from Etsy. little touches of rock candy distress stickles edge the main image and pink mat. my white gel pen was used to accent image as well as to add a dotted border.
I'm sending this card to a 9 year old girl who is currently going through treatment for leukemia. you can find more information about her battle here. I know how much the cards I have received mean to me. I hope to share a bit of sunshine with someone else fighting this awful cancer monster. hope she likes it!
Also, a friend of mine of fellow DT member is kinda sorta playing along in the hop. I would love it if you could take a moment to pop by her blog and see what she has made! Lisa - Adventures in Paper Land
We ask as you hop along with us, please consider donating at least $1 using the paypal donation button at any stop along the way. Your donation will go directly to Jen. Thank you. (I have to add this..... thank you for helping my family!)
It wouldn't be a hop without prizes. To see a full list of the prizes up for grabs, please visit
To be eligible to win a prize from our sponsors, collect the hidden letters located throughout the hop. Once you spell out the secret phrase, please email ---> Jenn Cochran at partytimetuesdays@hotmail.com. <----This will get you entered to win one of several fabulous prizes throughout the hop. ***Prizes up for grabs on my blog will be selected from comments left ONLY on my blog.***

Paper Pretties has kindly donated one digi of the winner's choice to be chosen from comments left on my blog! :)

Jane B of Jane's Doodles is so very generous to one lucky winner! That person will receive not one digi, but EVERY digi in the Jane's Doodles shop! wowza!
an anonymous donor has given me this fun, brand new A*Muse stamp set, 'Spooky Boo Day' (retail value $24.95) to offer one person who leaves a comment on my blog!

another anonymous donor is offering this great pack of Stampin' Up! 2012/2014 in color designer series paper (retail value $21.95) for one person who leaves a comment on my blog.
$15 gift certificate to Paper Makeup Stamps to one lucky person who leaves a comment on my blog!

and then there is the grand kahuna prize from those who leave a comment on my blog - Cath, a dear friend, editor at Paper Crafts mag, and writer extraordinaire of Moxie Fab blog has offered this ginormous selection of special edition PC mags, shipping included, to one lucky winner! whoa nelly! that is one fabby prize! :)

Now these are just a portion of a Cancer Support Prize package I am putting together for one person who leaves a comment on my blog. I am also adding some pretty pink vintage goodies that you know I love so well! :) then you can make projects to encourage someone going through this battle and who needs a little dose of love & smiles! :)
Thanks so much for stopping by and bearing with my longer than usual post..... hope you had a BIG cup of coffee to keep you going! grins!
p.s. I have to add, as I have been slowly going through the hop, because the compy hurts my head to do too much at once, I've been listening to a most fabulous CD. It is called "Here for YOU", worship music by David Crowder and Chris Tomlin. Several songs have popped out at me - 'Lord, I Need You', 'Always', and 'Forever Rein'. if you don't get anything else from today, know this - God is good, always. almost every day I can say without fail I have felt peace through this battle because He goes before me. He does not ever fail me. He is always always faithful, and His blessings are neverending. oh how thankful I am! and how God has blessed me with all of YOU! :)

Pencil Pack for a Special Teacher-to-be
Coffee of the Day - Toasted Coconut
Hello everyone! my post today is going to be super quick and super short 'cause I am super sick.... blech! this bug I have is getting worse as the days go by. my fever is staying around 102* and I can't keep any food down. not a fun way to spend the days...

anyhow, today starts a fun challenge over at Party Time Tuesdays - create a gift or card for a teacher. I used a stamp from one of our sponsors, Flonz Stamps. I love the vintage stamps they offer! just so much fun! there is a special discount available to anyone who plays along in our PTT challenge.
This pencil and eraser pack is going to a very special young lady who is studying to be an elementary school teacher. I thought she would get a kick out of it!
The packaging is actually saved from a letterpress plate - perfect for pencils, markers, candy bars, whatever your heart desires! I had seen the cute little rulers available for sale from some of the craft companies, but for 25 cents grabbed one that my son cut into 4 pieces for me. thrifty and just as fun! :) the tab was punched from a business card that had a design I loved. Patterned paper is Graphic 45 ABC Primer. I made the little notebook label down at the bottom. some great washi tapes, stitched ribbon, a doily bit, button, and a beautiful Prima rose finish this off.
thank you again to everyone who has helped my family through the Jen's Sunshine blog hop! your kindness means a lot to us! :) welcome to my new followers, too! The hop ends tonight, so be sure to get your comments in!
Challenges:
Jackson's Digital Expressions - anything but a card

Incy Wincy - back to school

Reminder about the Jen's Sunshine Blog Hop....
Coffee of the Day - Creme Caramel
Happy Saturday to all of you! :)
If you have had a chance to pop by the Jen's Sunshine Blog Hop, then thank you so much! For those of you who haven't, it's going on through Tuesday, so you still have plenty of time!
I'll be honest, I'm STILL working my way through..... I've taken sick, which is no fun whatsoever, and everything is taking me so much longer to accomplish since I seem to sleep for hours on end. there are so many inspiring, heart touching posts that it is also taking me a while to make my way through to say thank you to all of the people involved. I'm still overcome every time I think about all of you who have put so much of yourselves into your posts and projects. :)
and imagine my surprise when some of these cards have shown up in my mailbox! what a treat!
so many lovely prizes are up for grabs by the FABULOUS stores and sponsors. please please take a moment to say thank you to the wonderful people who have donated so many goodies for all of you to enjoy!
have a great weekend!

Happy Anniversary to my Hunny Bunny!
Coffee of the Day - Salted Caramel Pecan
I want to thank all of you who have stopped by so far on the Jen's Sunshine Blog Hop! it has truly been just flat out overwhelming the love and kindness that has been poured out upon my family & myself by all of you! Thank you for everything!
The hop will continue through Tuesday, Sept, 4, so it is going to stay at the top of my blog until then. Prizes will be announced on Friday, Sept. 7. I KNOW all of you are excited about that! :)
I am still working my way through the hop. I hope to finish leaving comments by this evening. It's pretty emotional for me. I laugh, I cry (boy, do I ever cry on some of these posts.....), and I smile so so so big at every single stop along the way! then I have emails that come in, too, and I want to answer them all. Several of you have made donations, and we appreciate every penny. I will try to thank you all individually when I get the chance, but know that your generosity has made such a difference for us.
I can't stay on the compy for long periods of time until my poor wonky head just gives out and I'm exhausted. by 7pm last night you coulda put a fork in me - I was DONE! I went straight to bed and didn't wake up until after 7:45am this morning when the dogs were ready to go outside. I probably would have kept on sleeping, but they don't take 'no, I'm still tired' as an answer! grins!

Today hubby and I celebrate 26 years of marriage. whew! Poor guy.... I sure have put him through the wringer! I think back to last year on this day when we celebrated 25 years and went out for a nice dinner. who would have ever thought of the changes we would go through from one year to the next. But he has stayed by my side, and that says so much about him. God truly blessed me the day He brought David into my life!
poor guy just shakes his head every time I tell him that he is my hunny bunny and that is what I call him on my blog..... see, he really does put up with a lot! ;)

Tomorrow is the day for Jen's Sunshine Blog Hop!
Coffee of the Day - Toasted Coconut
The big day is right around the corner, and I'm as nervous as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs! I so want this to be a success for the wonderful people who have put so much time and heart into the blog hop.....and good golly molly, the prizes! the generous folks from all over who have donated the most fabulous goodies for all of you to win!!! your socks are gonna be blown right off of your little tootsies! :)
Please please plan to stop by just to thank those amazing people who have given so much of themselves to help this random person out in bloggy land y'all have embraced with such compassion it brings tears to my eyes every time I think about it. :)
All of you have been asking, so I'm gonna get the icky stuff out of the way -
yesterday's visit with the surgeon did not go well. Not only do I have 4 torn tendons, but I also have a torn rotator cuff. BUT he does not want to operate, for some random reason known only to him..... no matter how many times I asked, he never would answer me directly. don't you hate it when someone, especially a dr., does that? he admitted that the tears will NOT repair and heal on their own. instead he wants to put me on a lonnnnnng regimen of steroid injections and physical therapy. I quickly said no to the steroids. they didn't help whatsoever when I was getting them with my chemo so why would they help now? he honestly couldn't answer that one....but he still wanted to shoot me full of the blasted stuff. no thank you.
I realize that I am going to have PT regardless. but let's fix the actual problem instead of just doping me up with stuff. I still have enough icky floating through my system from the chemo. so we are going to try to find another surgeon to get a 2nd opinion. sigh.....
thank goodness for the sunshine! (actually it was pouring down rain yesterday and I loved every single drop!!! it was glorious!! Dave & I taught the boys to play in the rain....he & I used to have date walks in the rain storms. so very romantic!)

Craft Barn Blog Candy!

As many of you know, the way I get most of my craft supplies is through winning challenges and blog candy. since we are on such a tight budget, and especially now with all of the medical bills, craft items don't typically come at the top of 'must haves'..... at least in hubby's opinion anyway! grins!
so when I come across blog candy promos, I tend to join right in the fun! I found this one today over at The Craft Barn I just had to tell y'all about. be sure to stop by and join in for your chance also! :) I would love to see one of you win - gotta share the love with my bloggy friends!

Home is Where the Dog is
Coffee of the Day - Caramel Hazelnut
Today is a fun challenge at Pile it On - use something that starts with 'P'. Jellypark is the sponsor, so you KNOW you want to play along! :)

I used this adorable new image from Jellypark, 'Puppy Dog' and papers from My Mind's Eye Lost and Found Halloween collection. I paper pieced the little guy and added a fun field of grass for him to play in! The card base was first sanded, then lightly inked with vanilla craft, & finally sprayed with coffee glimmer mist. the senti, from Create with TLC, is sprayed with the same glimmer mist.
I have to tell you about the extra accents on here. As most of y'all know, I am notorious for grabbing all kinds of things from all kinds of places to use on my projects. Well Mick spent part of this past spring and summer working for a landscaping company. he had one pair of blue jeans that he wore it SEEMED like every day (although I know he didn't really!!). even though we bought him a few new pair of jeans to get him through the end of summer, he seemed to like wearing those jeans best. as of last week there wasn't much left of them. I finally put them through the wash for the last time, telling him I wanted to grab them for belt loops, pockets, zippers, etc. before throwing them out. he let me know there wasn't going to be much in the way of belt loops left to grab. truer words were never spoken! what you see here are the remnants of a belt loop! I loved the frayed ends so much that I had to use them on this card! of course I grabbed the pocket tag, too. :)
guess who is getting this card tucked away in some box to be found as he unpacks at college tomorrow night? yep, Mick! the ideal card for someone majoring in zoology! he will get a kick out of seeing what little remains of those jeans on a card, as well as a card letting him know that our dogs here at home are thinking of him. :)
Don't forget the big blog hop on Wednesday! I've heard there are almost 50 blogs participating and so so so many prizes up for grabs! I hope you will be there! :)
Challenges:
Pile it On - I Spy something starting with 'P' (puppy & pennants & plaid & paper piecing & punches)

Coffee of the Day - White Chocolate Mousse
Hello to everyone! Thank you so VERY much for your wonderful words of encouragement yesterday. it really touched me heart the way so many of you reached out to me during my moaning and sadness. I can't even begin to tell you how much it helped lift my spirits. :) I try so hard to find the 'happy' each day, but gosh, yesterday I just couldn't. the joy was gone, but all of you brought it back to me. am I ever blessed!!!!
I want to share some most amazing news with you about the upcoming blog hop. As I've been telling you for the past few days, the Jen's Sunshine Blog Hop is on Wed., Aug. 29. that happens to be the day before Dave & I's 26th anniversary, so we both thought that was pretty special! So many people have been working so hard behind the scenes to make this blog hop a big success. I really do appreciate every single person who has done so much to help. :)
Several people have sent prizes directly to me so that I may offer them to those who comment on my blog that day. I just today received an email from Jane Beljo of Jane's Doodles. You will not believe what she is doing - she is going to give away her ENTIRE digi collection to one winner here on my blog! shut the door! can you believe that?! how completely fab is THAT?!?! and that is just one of the prizes I am giving away...... I have at least 3 more on top of that..... and then there are prizes galore throughout the hop.......
sheesh oh pete, folks! you have so got to be a part of this somehow, some way! if you want to actually be a blog stop, get in touch with Jenn C. by reading this post over at Party Time Tuesdays. otherwise, stock up on drinks & snacks and plan to party with us on Wednesday! man, is it gonna be a blast! can't wait to see you there! :)

Can't seem to find the sunshine...
for a crafty card related post, scroll down to the next one or click here.

Today it doesn't feel as if the sun is shining. I can see it outside my window, but I just don't FEEL it. have you had days like that before? I'm sure you have. we all do. and I've learned enough in these almost 50 years that the feelings like this will pass, thankfully, but while they are here they suck eggs big time.
Even though I have spent most of this summer alone, I'm hit once again as my guys prepare to head back to college. Tyler leaves tomorrow and Mick leaves on Sunday. Ryan is staying home for a year to go to a local community college. He gave up a year of traveling with Up with People to be home with me. I can't even begin to tell you the enormous amount of guilt I feel over that one. Thankfully they have kept a spot open for him for next year because of the circumstances, and for that I am most grateful. It also allows him more time for fundraising, but it still stinks that he put his life on hold because of me. I have to say once again that I am so very proud of my sons. :)
I have an appointment with the orthopedic surgeon on Monday about my shoulder. in the mean time I have pain medication that helps a little to give me some movement. Don't like the idea of more surgery/hospitals/medical stuff, but can't really avoid it these days. really don't want to start radiation treatments either, but right now don't even know when that is going to be. have to get this shoulder stuff done first. gosh, I'm so very weary of health ick. and so very weary of feeling so rotten.
I've been living in my flannel pants & t-shirts & hoodies since the winter. don't even recognize photos of me with hair on my head. it seems like another person entirely. I don't even remember those days anymore. Tried going for a quick trip to Wal-Mart yesterday and Tyler had to drive back. I was hanging on to the cart just to get through the store within 20 min. of arrival. this is getting so old. again, I'm just weary. do you see the sun over there? please tell me it's still around and someone feels it..... I need to know that it's there for someone, even if I can't feel it.....

Holiday Happiness Hexagons
Coffee of the Day - White Chocolate Mousse
A new challenge begins over at ABC Christmas Challenges - Q for quilting. This was a fun challenge to play in! I have this weird 'thing' for hexagons lately.... don't know why really, but gosh, I am so fascinated by them! as soon as I saw the theme for this week, I knew immediately that I wanted to try to make something using this shape and faux stitching. you didn't think I would attempt to REALLY pull out my sewing machine now, did you?! tee hee! although, gosh, lately, it has been tempting as I see all of the neat things people do with sewing on their cards... if it weren't for that dratted bobbin I would be all over it.

anyhow, I grabbed this cutie pattootie freebie image from over at Milk Coffee. there are several other fun Christmas images in their Etsy store, too, if you are interested. I still had my Pink Paislee Spring Jubilee papers out on my craft desk, so thought I would use a few of the scraps with some others. the hexagon die is from MFT. so love this die! the main image was accented with stickles, Viva Decor pearl paint, chunky glitter, and a gold glitter gel pen. poinsettia is from Prima, string/twine trim is from Etsy, button is vintage, and itty bitty clothespin was covered with washi tape. card base was sprayed with white Mr. Huey's mist. faux stitching was done with a white gel pen. oh yes, ornament die is Basic Grey for Sizzix.
Don't forget to sign up for my big blog hop on Aug. 29! lots and lots of prizes will be up for grabs from so many different sponsors. you can be a participant or just plan to hop along. Check this post at Party Time Tuesdays for more information. Can't wait to see you there for all of the fun! :)

Beautiful in Green
Coffee of the Day - Spiced Hazelnut
Happy Tuesday! Are you ready to party? grab the noisemakers, balloons, and confetti because it's a new challenge at Party Time Tuesday! We have a wonderful color inspiration photo for you to use for your papercraft projects this week. it immediately brought to mind freshly mowed grass, fields of corn which grow everywhere around here & are so beautiful to see, trees standing in majesty; so many examples of nature. As I have gotten older, the one thing I know for certain is that I need to be surrounded by trees and nature. I don't think I could live in a big city again. my soul needs green, so I was really happy to see this color palette.

Now for crafting, well, it's not a color combo I use often at all. so here comes the 'challenge' part! tee hee! but we as crafters always need to be nudged out of our comfortable box every once in a while. One of our sponsors this week is the fun store, Paper Parade. (btw - there is a big summer sale going on right now with 20% off everything in the store!!! wowza!) They were very kind and provided a few goodies for everyone on the DT to play with, but after seeing what was in my envie, I went to the store and picked up a few more things. early anniversary giftie from hubster! thanks, hunny bunny!! :) oh yes, he says to tell all of you thank you for the birthday wishes. he was surprised that y'all would think of him, so he was really touched.

My card uses stamps from both the Pink Paislee London Market and Spring Jubilee sets. paper is Pink Paislee Spring Jubilee. the fab die is from Cottage Cutz and was covered in rock candy distress stickles. all inks are Tim Holtz distress inks. I confess that this was my first time to actually use them for stamping. oh gosh, I truly squealed out loud when I stamped that darker green - peeled paint. you know me, I had to add a little touch of pink - spun sugar. it's only a hint, so I hope I can be forgiven. grins! frayed burlap is the brownish shade you see and shabby shutters is the lighter green. the darker green cs turned out almost black in my scan - sorry about that. I used colors that were the closest I had to the photo. the pretty pins were made for me by a friend. aren't they gorgeous?
I do hope all of you are gearing up for the big blog hop on Aug. 29. You can find more info here on the Party Time Tuesdays blog if you are interested in taking part. This is sooooooooo much bigger and more grand than I could have ever imagined! thank you so much to everyone who is involved! I just read an email this morning about the number of participants already as well as the amazing amount of prizes being donated. slap me silly!!! y'all are soooooo in for a treat! and it falls on the day before our 26th anniversary, so that is an even bigger bonus! :) hope to see YOU there!
Challenges:
Jackson's Digital Expressions - inks and such
Lollipop Crafts - anything goes
Made Especially for You - 3 pearls (mine is 3x2 with them being on stick pins)
Simon Says Stamp and Show - anything goes
Tammy's Scrappin' Corner - anything goes
Crazy Challenge - anything goes
That Craft Place - vintage
Catch the Bug - bingo (starts with 'b' button, ribbon, die cut)
Craft Room Challenges - pins and/or charms
Emerald Faeries - punches and/or dies
LEJ Designs - vintage

Courage
Coffee of the Day - Pecan Pie
Happy Monday to you! oh you think I don't hear the grumbles over here?! it's a brand new day of a brand new week - all brought to you in its glory for some wonderful bit of blessing just for YOU! can't wait to hear what beauty is just outside your door! :) hope the bluebird of happiness is singing sweet songs beside your window!

Today also brings a new challenge over at the Digi Makeover by Paper Makeup Stamps. the challenge this week is to create a Tent Topper card. I had never made one of these before and was surprised at how easy it was. you can find a tut here at Split Coast Stampers. Please be sure to stop by the blog today. We have a new DT member, Ardilla, as well as a guest designer, Rachel Fisher. You can also see all of the lovely inspiration projects by the rest of the DT. so many reasons to pop by to tell everyone hello! :)

My card uses the 'Courage is Not' sentiment and Pink Paislee Declaration paper. This sentiment touched my heart in a special way and is so very, very true. It can apply to so many aspects of life. As I have said many times lately, gotta put those brave boots on and plow right on through! I am also reminded of what God tells us in Psalms, we walk THROUGH the valley of darkness, we don't stay and hang out. the only way to do that is with Him by our side. gosh, that brings a lot of comfort! :)
I picked up these fun tickets at the paper store last week. David took me for a little splurge once I got out of the hospital and those icky poo tests. Color actually matches perfectly irl. senti is borderd with distress stickles as is the little cardboard banner. buttons are vintage, stamps happened to come on an envie last week & I knew they would be perfect on some upcoming papercraft project. didn't know how fast I would be using them! giggles! trim is May Arts & rose is Prima. card base is embossed and then highlighted with vanilla craft.
Don't forget the big blog hop is coming Aug. 29! There is still time to sign up if you would like to participate. Check out this post at Party Time Tuesdays for more info. I hope all of you can make it! :)
Challenges:
Cupboard Trilogy - embossing
Joanna Sheen - Totally Sentimental
Robyns Fetish - use a digi
Sentimental Sundays - banners/pennants
Stampin' Sisters in Christ - no images, sentis only
Crafty Pad - dies & punches (MFT & Spellbinders)
Crafty Mess - words only
Card Makin' Mamas - try something new (technique)
Word Art Wednesday - inspiring senti

I am Second
Coffee of the Day - Pumpkin Spice
I have had this on my heart since yesterday and wanted to share with all of you. I quite often listen to various CD's while on my computer or crafting. I love music of all kinds, so my library is pretty ecelectic, but the music that is closest to my heart is Contemporary Christian or alternative Christian music. it has always just brought me right to the feet of God, in a form of worship that doesn't compare to any other. the closest thing I find is when I am outdoors in His nature.
anyhow, one of the CD's I was listening to yesterday was "God's Not Dead" by the Newsboys. I was so excited when I heard that Michael Tait was going to be joining them several years ago as lead singer. I was a huge fan of DC Talk and saw them numerous times in concert. There are many great songs on this CD, but the one that really hit me was "I am Second," the final song. I am sharing the video here for all of you. it is not the official one from the Newsboys, but it does have the lyrics included.
I really needed that reminder that my life is all about putting myself second - ALWAYS. this is not negotiable. others, most especially God, always always always come first. if you aren't a person of faith, this is still a lesson that is crucial. we need to be humble. everyone needs to feel loved, treasured. and we can't just leave it to 'someone else' to take that responsibility. be the one to show the love.
there is a great website that goes with this message - http://www.iamsecond.com/. there are some amazing, very personal videos available to watch with all kinds of messages from some pretty spectacular people.
thanks for letting me share. remember, you are truly, deeply loved! :)

A Happy for my Hunny Bunny
Coffee of the Day - Coconut Macadamia
Happy happy birthday to my most amazing hubby! in the cyberworld I call him my hunny bunny, so it just seemed appropriate that he get a happy hunny bunny card for his birthday. yep, y'all know I'm weird like that! grins! I was supposed to be part of a blog hop today, but never heard back from the person in charge after several emails. so y'all get the card anyhow - just have to hop like a bunny on your own! imagine we are in a lovely conga line with that unique song playing in the bg..... hop, hop, hop!!!

The cutey rabbit is from Jellypark. papers are Basic Grey PB&J. bg was embossed with a Tim Holtz woodgrain folder. buttons are vintage and belt loop comes from one of the boys' pair of shorts. other elements are from a Freckled Fawn 'Oh Deer Me' Kit of the Month. these are quite addicting, and always fun to get! different shops from Etsy are included in the kits each month. I've only done several of them, but have enjoyed the variety of goodies. hope to be able to collect more as time goes along. the 'happy' text comes from an alphabet by Deliteful.
Received the news yesterday that I have several tears in my left shoulder tendons. can't for the life of me figure out how that happened, but am in the process of getting appts. with an orhopedic surgeon. Need to get it fixed before I can start radiation treatments. always something to keep life interesting! :) enjoy your weekend!

Choose Hope
Coffee of the Day - Maple
Hello to all of you! My post today will be very short.... I will try to come back later to add more details as I can.
Yesterday I spent the day at the hospital for lots of tests. it didn't go so well, and I am completely whipped. my poor head just can't get wrapped around the most simple of things right now, so typing or my computer is proving to be more of a challenge than I can conquer for the mo. so sorry for this....

anyhow, the new challenge over at Party Time Tuesdays is Garden Delights. there are both some great sponsors this week as well as some fab projects by the DT, so please pop over to take a looksie.
My card uses several digis from Paper Makeup Stamps, paper from Prima, vintage buttons, washi tape, and little pearl gems. the main image was inked with distress stains, sprayed with pearl glimmer mist, and then over sprayed with clay Mr. Huey mist.
thanks so much for stopping by! I hope to have more for you when I'm feeling better. thank goodness those birds are still singing their beautiful songs! :)
---> Today is also Top Tip Tuesday. sorry that I didn't finish my card for this challenge. I hope to have it done for a midweek posting....the new challenge is one layer cards. please stop by the blog to see everyone's amazing projects!
