Coffee of the Day - Eggnog
Just a reminder that the Pinktober Blog Candy ends tomorrow. not many people have signed up, so your chances of winning are pretty good! I will post the winners over the weekend sometime.
also, I am taking a break from crafting, probably until the beginning of the new year. I am weary of the drama behind it all, to be perfectly blunt. I am tired of entering challenges and no one from the team stopping by to comment on my entry or prizes not being delivered. I don't enter for the prizes, but it gets tiresome to be told time and time again that something is 'in the mail' or "I'll send it in an email to you", and it never arrives. almost all of my craft supplies come purely from my winnings.
don't even get me started on the number of 'artists' in digi land who spend so much of their time copying others and then calling it their own.... absolutely appalling. it turns my stomach to see how rampant the problem has become.
then we have the companies that actually mail out an order, only to deliver part of it, promising a refund or credit, having no intention whatsoever of returning that money. no amount of messages to customer service seem to illicit responses. I don't like having to ask and beg. and I don't like the way I feel about this craft anymore. so it's time to back away.
I have cards that have not been posted here on my blog, and I honestly don't know if I will. just don't have the desire to right now. sure don't have the enthusiasm to play in challenges like I used to. tired of having team members comment on other entries except mine. yep, it's a pity party and I know it. another indicator that it is time to step away.
so I will enter the land of zombies, movies, books......
my love to all of you!
check back this weekend for the blog candy winners. thank you for putting up with me and my ramblings.
in response to a comment - I am not enjoying crafting any longer. that is one reason I'm taking a break. I don't even like to walk into my craft room right now. in fact, I'm happiest when my computer is completely turned off, and I am reading a book or watching a movie.
as for not letting things get to me, I don't think I should have to write numerous emails to a store regarding challenge prizes. they offered to sponsor, plain and simple. if they aren't going to follow through with their end, don't sponsor. I'm tired of having to beg for a prize. in fact I don't. after 2 or 3 emails, I stop. in reference to the store that won't refund my money, that is a no brainer. I paid for something, if they aren't going to send it, refund my money. answer my message/email. bad customer service. and all of this happens way too often from stores big enough to know better.
yep, life is too short to spend time fussing over stupid stuff like challenge prizes or tracking down a refund. so I'm not going to. I'd rather spend my time doing things I enjoy. I spent tonight fixing a nice dinner for David and I. it was glorious. no rush to get a project finished/scanned/posted/linked/etc. I could just spend time in the kitchen and then enjoy a lovely dinner with my husband.
So sorry to hear you're taking a break, but it's perfectly understandable! We'll be here waiting when you're ready to come back and share your gorgeous cards with us again.
ReplyDelete(And just for the record, prize for best card ever still goes to your TARDIS one! :-D )
So if we don't hear from you before then, enjoy your break, have a wonderful holiday season and see you again next year! x
Aw Jenn!! I'm so sorry you're feeling this way about crafting! It's really no fun at all when those things happen like you say, but I never try and let it get me down about what I love to do.
ReplyDeleteI also try to take into consideration that I don't always know what is going on in other people's lives...sometimes it's best to let it go and carry on with what YOU love to do. I will be missing you very much and wonder how you're doing!
BIGGEST WISHES AND HUGS TO YOU my friend!
Awww...I'm sorry, Jennifer! I totally understand where you're coming from though. It is extremely disheartening to enter challenges and not have anyone comment...ever! I have also just had my own customer service fiasco! lol
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a beautiful break! I trust you'll be back and ready to create for the JOY of it all once again! My prayers will continue! :o)
Totally get your comment... and can understand the need for it. Sorry to read that you are having such troubles with the crafting world...
ReplyDeleteI must be pretty lucky because only had one issue with getting my prize from a challenge... and only one issue with a company delivering it's products... but then you know about that issue and finally was reimbursed.
I hope I see you again in blog land!!! Happy holidays!!!
Hugs
Vicky
Enjoy your break lovely - I stopped crafting and blogging for the whole of my treatment but am back to it now with more enthusiasm. Maybe the break from blogging will allow more time to enjoy the actual crafting! xxx
ReplyDeleteSorry you have had such a hard time, but understand your frustrations. I wish you a lovely and peaceful time while you relax and really hope you will be back and inspire us with your gorgeous creativity. Hugs, Ursula
ReplyDeleteI'll miss you and your lovely creations, Jen. And I'll miss your blog post and the 'Coffee of the day' ;)
ReplyDeleteTake care,
hugs Dorte
Hi Jen I hope you still pop in and post from time to time, I really enjoy your cards and your blog! I always love how you describe the critters outside your windows! I don't always comment and I usually don't enter to win things since I know the cost to ship to Canada, it's an unwarranted expense for a blogger to take on!
ReplyDeleteTake care of yourself and your family and hope to see you back in the New Year.
Whenever anything's not fun anymore it's best to step back Jen so I understand, sad that you feel this way about challenges and stores though, sounds like you've had some bad luck. XOX Lucy
ReplyDeleteI'll miss reading your posts and seeing your creations, but can totally understand your reasons. I too have had many promises that have not been fulfilled and seeing the same people win challenges time and time again, etc... It does get dreary.
ReplyDeleteI'll be thinking of you while you're on break. Enjoy your time and take care of yourself.
Hugs,
Rhonda
Jenn, I can totally understand where you are coming from....I'm thinking a break is needed as well. Blogging takes a lot of time and so do challenges, I love doing it, but I've been neglecting so many other things lately that need my attention. I'm not sure what I'm going to do, but I can understand your feelings. I hope you enjoy your break, take care and hopefully you will be back! :)
ReplyDeleteHi sweetie. :-) I don't blame you at all for stepping back. I've pulled back quite a bit myself. Haven't entered too many challenges in a long time and the artist "copying" issue truly has gotten out of hand. I totally understand where you are coming from. Remove the stress, kick back, and do something that makes you happy instead of frustrated. I'll miss seeing your lovely cards and I hope you'll keep me posted on how you are doing. Sending HUGE hugs!
ReplyDeleteHugs. times three
ReplyDeleteJennifer,
ReplyDeleteTotally understand but will miss your wonderful cards and post...they always make me smile. Take time to enjoy your life, you deserve it after all you have been through. If we don't hear from you during the holidays I hope you and your family have a very blessed holiday season and look forward to seeing you again when your ready! :)

I hope you enjoy your well-deserved break. You will remain in my thoughts and pray that your health is restored.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you-- when the craft stops being fun, it's time to make a change. I wish you all the best.
I think we all go thru the crafty blahs! It's definitely a time to refocus. You should always do what makes you happy. When it becomes irritating & bothersome-time to change!
ReplyDeleteWhen I got tired of the card thing-I started getting involved in altering boxes, clipboards, envelopes-mainly to use up designer paper that was building up. Turns out-I love changing stuff too! I hardly do cards anymore.
I know you'll be fine! Praying for you!!
You deserve a break and I know where you are coming from!
ReplyDeleteI will miss your posts and your stories Jennifer.
ReplyDeleteBut take your time, crafting should be relaxing and fun, if it isn't, you need a break!1
Hugs, and I hope you still post soemthing from time to time, just about you.
