Coffee of the Day - Pumpkin Spice
My guys are all in the midst of either packing to move to school or actually in the process of moving. to stay out of their way today, I headed into my craft room. it also gave me a bit of quiet time to cry a little where they wouldn't see me. it doesn't matter how old they get, I still get sad when they head out of the house. and it doesn't make much sense because I've only seen them a handful of times all summer, but that's just the mom in me.
I'm still a bajillion projects behind, I think. I've had a bit of a setback in my cancer battle. it's making it tough to do my crafting stuff. just don't always have the enthusiasm to get to my craft room like I should. sure do hate this beastie......
so I made this birthday card loosely based on the sketch over at Die Cut Divas (so loosely that I'm not even gonna link it!) as well as a few other challenges. it may seem busy, but when it comes down to it, there aren't many embellies on the card. it was nice to get a bit funky though! ;)
The image is 'Disco Diva 2' from Sassy Studio Designs, sentiment is from Create with TLC, papers are Basic Grey Lauderdale, metal charms are Making Memories, and coolio leather flowers are Prima. whoooooops - great squares die is MFT. lots of dies and punches used. I added some touches with my spica clear glitter gel pen, too. this girl most certainly needs her bling!
don't forget that you only have until Wed. evening to enter this week's contest to win the Inky Antics 'BBQ Time' stamp set. another set will be up for grabs on Sunday. LOTS of blog candy this month! :) go to the post here to enter.

ReplyDeleteYou hang in there, Girlfriend! We're all rooting for you. (And I do understand you not wanting the boys to go.)
Megahugs, Penny
So sorry to hear of your setback. My husband was diagnosed a few weeks ago and just had major surgery 2 weeks ago. I'll pray -- for you both!
ReplyDeleteMy baby is going to be a freshman in college this year -- I've been tearing up myself. My older child moved to California in May (we are in NY) so I'm feeling the mom blues also.
Love your card -- hang in there - I'll be sending good thoughts your way.
Looks great Jennifer and thanks for joining my stitching challenge at Allsorts this week

What a fun card! Very cute. I'm sorry to hear you had a set back with your health. I hope you are having a better day. And I understand your feelings about your kids. We have one more year of college left and our daughter is getting her things packed this week. So many mixed emotions as they grow up!
ReplyDeleteI'm not looking forward to those days with my kids. I get emotional when they just go to elementary school down the street. Lol.
ReplyDeleteI love your card. What a fun image and flowers.
I understand how you feel about your children...mine are one in college and another starting school and not with me...they never understand until they become a parent! :)
ReplyDeleteYour creation is so adorable! Your colors are fantastic and such a fun image too! Love it! HUGS
Hi Jenn -- Sending you extra smiles and a hug, after reading today's post. I am always sad and very sorry when I hear you've had any kind of set-back with the nasty cancer. I'm still praying for miracles and if there is anyone who truly deserves one, it's YOU!!
ReplyDeleteI am so admired all the wonderful cards you have been creating and have been amazed at how many challenges you have entered lately! I do HOPE that this change will not hinder you from creating for too long. I know it's a passion for you ...me too!!
Please know you are often in my thoughts...as are your hubby and the boys too!
Fondly,
Lisa
This is a bright sassy card, love it.
ReplyDeleteAs a mum, we are allowed to shed a tear. Our kids, although grown up will always be our kids!

I totally know what you mean about being sad when they leave - my youngest is now going off and it is weighing down my heart even though I am so excited for her. We never get over that.
ReplyDeleteYour card is lovely and fun and brings back many memories - I am sure I had an outfit very similar to that! My hair was long and straight but my look was close to this.
I am so proud of you fighting this battle and still crafting and staying positive. So inspiring and impressive. Hoping your energy stays high! Hugz!
lovely creation! Thanks for joining in our Stitching challenge at Charisma this week! Gemma :)
ReplyDeleteAmazing card, Jennifer! Love that fun sentiment! Sorry to hear of your set back and sending crafty hugs! Thanks for joining us at The Corrosive Challenge!
