ABC Christmas Cup of Tea

Coffee of the Day - Eggnog

Today I am posting a midway reminder card for the ABC Christmas challenge 'E is for Eyes down' bingo. We are sponsored by both Shape EZ templates and Stamp Fairy. Last week I used an image from Stamp Fairy for my card, so this week I am showing a project with a Shape EZ template.

I am using the following options from the bingo board: not a square, flowers, glitter. my card uses the Tea Cup Flip Card template. it was an easy one to cut out, which is great for my bad head.

I first printed out some digital papers onto white cs. I then printed then tea cup template right on top of the printed papers. easy peasy! :) I then typed out my poem onto the inner liner piece template prior to printing. that became the pocket for my tea bag.

the outside cup was sprayed with walnut gold glimmer mist. be careful, because glimmer mist does cause colors from the printer to alter. in this case I love the different shades it turned the red. vintage crochet trim and buttons plus a glittered Prima poinsettia were added. edged were distressed.

as you open the card, snowflakes from a Basic Grey stamp set were stamped on the liner. the base was sprayed with the same walnut gold glimmer mist. more distressing of the edges with both reds and browns.

it has been a very difficult past few days for me. I'm not going to go into it all here, because it has become apparent that most of you really don't want to hear my cancer/health woes. I don't blame you one bit. I don't either. guess that is why there are some complaints about me going around on the internet that I am catching wind of....that hasn't been easy to deal with either. sure do wish that people would at least be courteous enough to talk to me about their issues. I don't even know who the people are who dislike me so much.  oh well. I can't make everyone happy. I have cancer and can't change that. I'm dying and can't change that. the only thing I can change is my crafting and try to do the best I can with what I make, and believe me, I really do pour my heart into my projects. and I try to find something to smile about in the midst of it all. it isn't easy, and some days I'm not successful.

sorry for the humbug. I'll try to do better.

  1. Your card is gorgeous. Your comments break my heart. I have no idea what negative comments people are making but please do not let that stop you for using your blog to share the difficulties you are facing. The vast majority of your readers follow your struggles with enormous admiration and are pulling for you 150%. Cyber bullying is rampant and is best ignored. HUGS

Your followers really do care about you Jen - I'm with Joan, ignore the cyber bullying, I really can't believe that a caring crafting community would be hurtful!

And I agree with all the others, we follow your blog and with that, a part of your life.
If they don't want to hear it, they should't read the post or don't follow.
The followers you have want to encourage you when you need it ( I think)and like to know how you are doing at the time.
At least, that's how I feel about it.
Big cyberhugs and please keep your head up!! Sandra

  8. Hi Jennifer..I am always amazed and awed by your talent and love for crafting; yours cards are always gorgeous! The grace with which you approach your health challenges is inspiring to all of us; please don't let the actions of a few bring you down. Keep doing what you love...your love for your craft shows through your work!

  9. Dear Jennifer,

Your card is lovely and I'm so glad you've shared it. I also want to say a (not so) quick thing about the feelings you've shared. Frankly, it boils down to this...this is your place and you can say whatever you feel the need to say while you're here. Unfortunately, the internet and the anonymity therein have enabled some people to show their darkest, most bitter, and unfeeling selves. I don't believe it's good for people to feel entitled enough to tell others that they're not blogging right or not sharing the correct feelings (even more cowardly to do so behind the "offender's back"). But there are careless individuals out there that have little regard for how they belittle others. Please know that you have many supporters and they far outnumber the thoughtless few. I wish you all the best.

    Sincerely,
    Lizzie

  10. I'm so sorry to hear that others have been taking out their issues on you. You have every right to share what you wish to on your blog. Some people live to bring others down. Please bask in the love of others, and let the trollish ones go.

  11. I follow Joan's blog and clicked on her link to "meet" you. What a gorgeous card! I'll be adding you to my google reader!! I wish you the best of everything in these difficult times. Easier said than done but please don't allow others' negativity to affect you. That is not what real friends are for. I have found that a lot of people have a hard time when they have to confront certain things in life. It is no excuse but I try to remind myself of this when it gets to me. It is your blog and I for one would be honored if you felt like sharing your ups and downs with me. Hugs from Chicago!!

Your card is stunning. Thank you for sharing.

  13. Jennifer,

You're card is lovely as always!! As for people being negative about your post that is their problem not yours. Some people have never been touched by cancer or any illness that affects ones life the way you and your family have.
They should be down on their knees and thanking the good Lord for this instead of being ugly towards you. I know that so many of us following your blog care and you are always in my prayers. Keep smiling!! Pam

  14. Wow can't believe it, but totally agree with everyone's comments that you should ignore those bullies. If I were to meet you on the street I would ask how you are and how you are feeling and I feel the same as others who visit your blog...we stop by because we care and love the creations you show us. Hugs Lisa xxx

  15. Who in their right mind would take out their insecurities on you??? They aren't worth the space you gave them, but maybe someone will see themselves and think differently. All they have to do is not read your blog. What's so hard about that? Oh, wait--they're bullies and can use the shield of the anonymous Internet to play their silly games. As someone who's had cancer, along with many family members, it is one of the hardest things you'll ever face. Don't forget that you've been a survivor since you were diagnosed. I will think of you when I have my tea later. The card is perfect. Keep up your creative endeavors. They are always appreciated and are good therapy.

  16. What a beautiful tea cup! I'm sorry to hear you have been cyber-bullied. It's amazing what people will do when 'protected' by the veil of anonymity of the internet. If only people were as unstinting in their encouragement! In that vein, I will add my encouragement to you, a stranger but a fellow traveller on this road of life. I have said a prayer for you, for your well-being and strength and courage.

  17. Such a sweet card from such a sweet person. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT let the ranting of others get to you. I for one appreciate the fact that you are willing to share your difficult journey with us because it gives me hope. If I were to find myself in the same position as you are I would hope that I can manage as well as you are and with the same grace.
    Hugs!

  19. I stop by your blog frequently because this is how I find out how you are doing. The minute I see you have posted something I am reading it right away. Plus, I also think you are quite humorous! -- phooey on anyone who doesn't want to read it is what I say.

  20. Hi, I came over from Joan's blog and I'm glad I did. It's obvious you are sharing your creations and feelings from your heart. Say what you want and pay no attention to those that don't want to hear. We don't know each other, but know that I'm sending you a virtual hug tonight, and I'll be following your blog from now on. Keep creating, keep sharing.

  24. Hi there old friend, have been thinking about you and finally got a chance to stop by (-: this teacup is adorable! Love it's vintage feel and sweet sentiment....hope I remember this when I start my Christmas cards...

And those who have snarky comments need to get a life! You are fighting for yours and have done it with grace...stay focused on Jesus! He and your family are what count...and as someone has already said...this is YOUR blog...please keep sharing your struggle...will continue to keep you in prayer (as promised in the beginning) and stop by more often to leave you a comment...I can't imagine what this has been like for you, physically, emotionally and spiritually. Your wonderful testimony of faith in our Lord has been truly inspiring....please don't "suffer fools"
    Hugs to you,

  25. Grrr... I'd like to tell those thoughtless clowns what I think. But as Auntie Em said, "I can't because I'm a Christian woman.". It's your party, cry if you want to. I look forward to reading your blog every time it comes out. I don't know you, other than what you share in your blog, but I admire you tremendously and when I think of you I say a prayer for you. I love your cards and creativity. Keep fighting the good fight!

  27. What everyone, especially Lizzie said. It is very sad to hear of the meanness being said and done to you. You sharing with your blog friends is very brave and helps us on how to pray for you. Trying very hard to not say things about those types of people. There would be nothing nice to say. Please know you are touching lots of people with your talent, faith, strength and honesty. You are loved!

  29. Your card is beautiful!
I too followed Joan's link, and am glad that I did. I cannot imagine anyone being so hurtful as to criticize a person's blog, especially a person with a health crisis. I am so sorry that has happened, and I echo Lizzie and Joan's comments 100%!You are brave beyond words, and I can't imagine what you are going through. I have some disabilities, but don't want to think of the evil "C" word. So many loved ones have perished because of it. I wish you the absolute best, and hope that you will find comfort and joy from the people that enjoy your creations, and we lift you up! Forget the heartless ones, they aren't worth your thoughts. I'm sure you have 100 X more that CARE about you, and wish you well. *BIG CYBER HUGS*

  30. Jennifer, I am sorry that people have been unkind in any way. I think you are amazingly brave. I marvel at your creative spirit that continues through everything that you are going through. This is your blog and you should share whatever you want to share. As hard as it is, I hope you can push away the negative comments (which say more about those people than anything about you) and embrace only those people who accept and support you!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Oh Sweetie. So sorry to hear you're not feeling so well. Sending you lots of good thoughts, prayers & hugs. I agree with other comments. This is your space to write what YOU want/feel. No one's forcing anyone to read it. We read it because we want to see your crafting AND to find out how things are going with you. Those ignorant ppl have not walked in YOUR shoes. I hope you keep posting here, both your crafts & your journey. I for one LOVE reading it ALL!

    ReplyDelete
  32. What a darling shaped card! Love how you used the trim and embellishments here, Jennifer!

As for everything else, I wish I could do something more than type in the comments a reminder that you are beautiful, kind, generous, talented, and above all a daughter of God who will never leave you, never foresake you, never turn away from you.

Also, you have every right to post what you want, humbug and all, on your blog. LOTS of people appreciate your courage to share, but they may not have the courage or words to comment. You just never know who you will help, whose heart you will touch, whose heart you will inspire, just by being Jennifer, radiation poisoning and all. Be you, and know that lots of people are quietly praying and supporting you.

    Love in Christ,
    Susan

  33. I follow your blog by email, and although I'm rarely well enough to pop to blogs and comment these days (had to come and speak to you today)I do follow you with affectionate interest. Sadly there are cyber bullies and others who use any means to spread their negativity, but they are few in number compared to the warm hearted crafters in blogland. I'm sorry some unkind people have worsened your days for you, I hope support from your loving family and your faithful supporters will turn that around. I can only begin to imagine what you go through, and wish things were different for you. Love and hugs lin

  34. You are right that none of us (especially you) wants to hear your 'cancer woes' as you call them. We wish that you were well. Since that is not the case, be assured that for every negative thought out there, there are many, many multiples of good thoughts and prayers for you. Spend your remaining time doing what makes you happy or what you need to do. Do not waste one second on people who bring you down.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Wow..so sorry to hear how hurtful others are being to you. Ignore them, do not let them bring you down Keep your positive attitude, I am a firm believer that attitude and determination to survive go a long way in battling cancer. That is what has kept my mom here the last 10 years when the survival expectancy for her cancer was only 3-5 years. It also helped my DH survive his cancer. I have an idea of what you deal with everyday, the personal struggles, and you have my sincere admiration. You are an incredibly strong woman. Your creations are beautiful, please don't stop sharing those, or your personal life. I wish you all the best.

  36. Dear Jen,
I came from Joan's blog and what lovely eye candy greeted me! Your card is lovely!
Ah...the wonderful internet! It allows us to "meet" people who we would never have the chance to otherwise, and I've been blessed with these cyber friends.
And yet, it allows those who, for whatever reasons, to strike out at others. This is YOUR blog. It is a place for you to share, not only your paper creations, but your thoughts and feelings. You are in a battle right now and yet, you are willing to open yourself to others as to what you are feeling, experiencing and living. DO NOT let those negative people give you pause in what you are sharing! A battle is fought side by side and your "cyber" FRIENDS will continue to be there for you, no matter the outcome!
You and your family will now be in my thoughts and I, for one, will be glad to be beside you from now on!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Very charming card. I love the edition of the snowflakes on the inside and you did a great job with the pretty embellishments on the outside as well.

How sad that people are so ignorant and have been saying things about you in a negative way. It's your blog and you have the right to talk about whatevery ou want. I will say a prayer for you and for those ignorant people as well.

  40. This is my first time here -- and I am sad to hear that ANYONE would complain about you sharing your thoughts about ANYTHING - ESPECIALLY your battle. Not for nothing - your blog is out there, and people can choose to, or not to read it. But COMPLAIN?!?!?! Shaking my head over here. I am sorry to hear that you have Cancer. It SUCKS. I hate it (though probably not more than you!) I love your cup of tea - especially the sentiment on the inside...just beautiful - like you. Don't let the others get you down -- you say what you feel, and let the rest of them take a hike. Will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers for a good fight. Keep your chin up! -- a new fan :)

  41. Hi Jennifer,
Another beautiful project.....not sure how you manage.
Oh yes..... and your Blog is your spot to use as you want.....go for it! If people don't like it they can stay away! It would be nice if they kept their opinions to themselves too :) Keep fighting the fight!

  42. Oh my goodness, this tea cup is lovely. I'm going to case one for sure.

Listen, you are such an inspiration and positive force out there in blog land. I don't know you, but follow you and love to hear what you say. You truly are handling your cancer with such dignity. If you want to talk about it here, go right ahead, it's your blog and there are lots of people who care about you very much. I don't "like" to hear about your struggles and bad times, wish you were having more good times. But I will always listen. I enjoy your blog, your personality and your beautiful creations!

Please pay no attention to the negativity, it's not worth the time and worry.

    Hugs~Kathy

  43. Hey Jen....you rock...actually, you are a rock! Ka Pow to all those who think otherwise!

Friends share life with each other.

Those that are not strong enough to offer support, will be the first to run and while running will cast their insecurities on to the backs of others.

The strong will remain true and will help you carry the burden so that they might, in some small way, ease your discomfort.

  44. This is my first time to your blog and i wanted to tell you that I am praying for you. I wanted to write to you because it makes me so angry that people can't just seem to just move on - they need to bully, and complain, and hurt people with their unnecessary and unrequested comments! Everyone is worried about bullying in schools... and it is just as bad on the internet. these so called adults need to get a life, grow up and keep their mouths closed. I pray for you and your health and your children... Keep fighting and know that the small percentage of people who have to complain are the ones leading a very sad and lonely life. Take care!!!

  45. I came over from Joan's blog. Great card, I never venture into shaped cards! I'm so sorry to hear about your cancer, and then to have people hitting you when you are down is just horrible. They will have their vitriole return to them at some point. As one of my Buddhist teachers said "karma is a law of the universe, like gravity. It exists whether you believe in it or not. If you don't believe in gravity, you are still anchored to the earth by it."

  46. Jennifer: Was busy all week, and just read this post. I CANNOT believe how cruel people can be. Shame on anyone who has posted negativity about you! I'd shout from my roof, if I though I could help stop such bullying and mean-ness. God bless you and your family while you go through this hard time. And know that I pray for you all. Keep craftin' that's good therapy!!!

  50. I too came over from Joan's blog and am so very happy I did! I love your teacup card and can't wait to explore your blog to see more of your art!
It never ceases to amaze me how low some people can go when they themselves are not happy. For that must be what causes them to do such awful things. Forget the haters, try to laugh, ignore them and think that they are only hurting themselves by making themselves a target of ridicule!.
It seems you have many supporters and people who care about you and your health and I have just added myself to that list! All the best!

  51. I, too, was directed here thru Joan B. I, too, have battled the cancer monster. Prayers are going up! And I'm sending you a hug. There, did you feel it?

Here's a quote that helps me:

Don't give them the power to make you upset. This is your blog, your freedom space, and you are such an example of courage and grace through difficult times! I don't know what I can add that hasn't already been said. I just want you to know how much I appreciate you - every single bit: your talent and charming style, and your supreme grace and eloquence in the face of incredible physical trials. You AMAZE me.

It is sad to me that anyone could visit your blog and not realize that they have been truly blessed by your presence in this community. It is their loss.

You keep on Jennifer-ing as long as it suits you, my friend, and know that hundreds of us DO realize how very lucky we are to have you.

Your post just breaks my heart. How people can be so cruel and talk negatively about someone they don't even know just makes me mad. Your blog, your thoughts, your posts. I truly am sorry that you have to deal with that on top of your cancer. You will continue to be in my thoughts and I plan on checking back, often. HUGS

  56. Dear Jennifer,
I rarely comment anywhere, but I can't let this pass me by. It is unbelievable to me that someone could be so crass and shallow as to criticize you in your hour of great trial. Please realize how unimportant they are and so not worth a moment's thought. Try to avoid their complete lack of graciousness. Your blog is yours to put up whatever you want to create or say. Each of us chooses to read or pass it by. Period. I thank God you have a venue to express yourself. Be encouraged with this: The lips of the righteous nourish many, but fools die for lack of judgment.

I wish you love and I am sending good thoughts and a big cyber hug.

This is YOUR blog! You post what you want! And if someone has a problem with that, they can stop reading. Unfortunately it is easier said than done. Weak, mean, empty people will criticize no matter what... Don't let it get to you.

I have no idea why anyone would be mean spirited enough to complain about anyone venting about an illness on their own blog, but I gave up trying to understand things like that a long time ago. hopefully your new friends will make up for those old frenemies )
