Coffee of the Day - Toasted Coconut
Yep, I admit it. I like the sunny part of summer, but not the heat. Probably because we don't have a/c in this old house.... and when the temps hit 100*, it is HOT! our ceiling & little box fans are running their motors off to keep air moving. Thankfully it's been a bit cooler these past few days, but now you know why I like the snowy season so much! :) it is far easier for me to warm up than cool down... my prayers go out to those parts of the country hit by drought and wildfires.
Today's challenge at Party Time Tuesdays is Die Cuts and Punches. We have some wonderful sponsors, so please check out the challenge blog for all of their info as well as inspiration from the DT!
I used this fun boy in a hammock image from The Paper Shelter and senti from Create with TLC. papers are from the Echo Park This & That Charming collection. main image was cut with a Spellbinders die, grass & clouds with MFT dies. sun was punched with star and scalloped circle punches, & senti with a SU! tag punch. trim comes from another sponsor, Creating is Fun. little touches were added with my white gel pen, including some faux stitching.
Tests at the hospital yesterday didn't go so well. I must be turning into a vampire... you know I much prefer zombies or werewolves, but alas, we don't seem to get a choice in the matter. they had a doozy of a time drawing blood and had to call in the head of the dept. finally to get it done. even then she had to draw an i.v. to get what was needed and wiggle that blasted needle all around before finding any blood in my body. yikes! it was a bit on the painful side! my poor arm is now covered in even more bruises than before. They were telling me that is all very typical for chemo patients. oh chemo, how you are so not my friend.... and I go back tomorrow for yet another treatment. yuck. do not want to go, Sam I am.....if I have to pass this way again, I don't think I will opt for the chemo. it has done so many horrible, permanent things to my body. I'm sure not everyone has the reactions to it that I have and for many it is very helpful. but anyway....still looking for the sunshine. just keep the heat! grins!

sorry to hear you had such an aweful time yesterday, and have more to come tomorrow. I hope you can continue to cope, and I hope you are one of the many it's been helpful for.
ReplyDeleteYour card is adorable, love the background with the cute spotty clouds. I'm with you and prefer the winter, when you can keep yourself warm - to the too hot summer that you can't escape from......not that's we've suffered from that (as yet) this year. So far it's cloud cover and rain for weeks and weeks and weeks. Take care sweetheart. Hugs lin
You sound like my sister--they always have a devil of a time drawing her blood, too! Not that she is on chemo, just that her veins are so deeply buried! So sorry that happened to you; I know that was painful! Sending you some healing love! And hang in there tomorrow! Will be thinking of you. XXXXXXXX
ReplyDeleteNow, as to your card--well, this is just too cute! I love the scene you created!! And the embellies you used are perfect on this card! Keep on creating, Jennifer!
Biggest of hugs,
Penny
Jen, sorry to hear your visit didn't go very well. I hope tomorrow can go a little better for you.
ReplyDeleteYour card is so great. TFS.
Hi Jenn - Love your card and the SUNSHINE makes me smile and feel happy. Just WISH you blood work had gone a bit easier.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your Chemo feelings too.....I often wonder if I found out I had cancer, if I would EVER want to try Chemo, based on how sick it seems to make so many. Both my Mom and friend Kim, who also both had breast cancer, did not have chemo, but had surgery and rediation. I think IF that was an option for me (God forbid, I have to make that one day)....I would do the same.
I can handle pain pretty well.....as I have to...but I'm just awful with Nausea...so I would not be good with that.
I sure HOPE that my Mammogram goes well tomorrow, so that I don't have to think about Chemo....it breaks my heart knowing what it does to you and so many others....and I know I would NOT want it and PRAY that I'll NEVER have to have it!!
Hugs and love to you!
Lisa
PS: Thanks again for posting about word verification. While I do not have as much difficult with it, as you do, I struggle with it myself and often will try to ask those bloggers who have it ON, to turn it off? However, I have now offended a blogger by doing so and I guess I used a bad choice of words, in my request...but it was NOT meant to be offensive either. I simply was trying to point out how annoying it can be and I guess my words were not right? Yikes!! Needless to say, now I feel awful...but still want people to know that it's SO hard.
I am just one who struggles with getting the words/letters right an find it more difficult then ever, since the last change that Blogger made! I HOPE you KIND post may help others see just how how it is for many reasons.
Thanks Hun!!
A very sweet card Jennifer!
ReplyDeleteHugs to you honey, I am thinking of you as always!

Keep up your positive attitude. Chemo does affect everyone differently. My husband has had all the negative effects from his last chemo treatment that only less than 5% get, so I understand how you feel.

Well Jen, you can imagine a day here in the Yukon. It's beautifully sunny with a monster wind and cool temps. I'm actually staying inside with my little boy who has a cold at the moment. Where he got it I've no idea!
ReplyDeleteFantastic card! I love hammocks and have such fond memories of visiting my grandparents in New York State and swinging in the big wooden hammock under the walnut tree! I love how you added the layers of grass and the buttons and such a great sun to! Hugs!
