Texas Sized Birthday

Just put together my first ever card using a pre-colored digi image. almost seems like cheating, but gosh, this one sure is cute! I am trying to catch up on a few more of the challenges over at The Outlawz that I mentioned in my post this morning. This card is for a 'where are you from?' challenge.

The image is currently a freebie from The Doodle Pantry. (hint hint hint....you should go check out all of the cutie ones that are available for free right now. wow!) papers are K & Co. Americana, rustic ribbon is May Arts, linen thread is SU!, and star sticker strip down middle is Jenni Bowlin. buttons are just from my stash jar.

Even though it has been years since this Texas gal has been to her home state, there will always be a part of the Lone Star that resides in my heart no matter where I live. :)

  1. Love this, Jennifer! It just looks like Texas! (Oh, yeah, that's because it IS Texas!) I love how rustic the card is--makes me feel like I am out West. Wait a minute--I am out West. Oh, never mind me. I do love your card, though! :^)

  3. Beautiful card, Jennifer! Second post in one day! YAY for you! I think I did my second post in one week! lol Yay for me! haha
I don't think using a colored digi is cheating at all...especially with the cost of some inks! ;o)
Your Texas shape reminds me of a funny story! Well, I tend to think EVERYTHING is funny! lol Years ago I worked in a craft store. In the clearance section one day there was this bag of wood pieces, all the same, and just tons of them. They were packed up pretty good so we couldn't really see them very well, but hey, they were too good a deal to pass up, you know? So I got them and took them home. Do you think we could figure out what they were? NO! I kept them for years and could never use them because I didn't know what they were! Turns out they were the State of Texas! Now what's a girl from Saskatchewan, Canada gonna do with a million wood States of Texas? haha I'll watch for your third post, okay? :o)

  10. Jennifer, your card is totally awesome and the sentiment is totally synonymous of Texas that's for sure!

Don't worry about using a pre-colured digi image, there are times when you just can't find the appropriate image that you are looking for. You either have to do what you've done or improvise and draw one, which we all know not everyone can do, lol.

    Well done :)S

  11. It's funny because the few times I will use a very awesome sticker or pre-colored image, I can of feel like I'm cheating too...but then again, we did the rest and came up with the design and added elements.

I think your TEXAS card is fabulous and did not know you were from Texas, so that was fun to learn.

PS: They extended the PARTY until July 7th, so that everyone has a bit more time to play. I'm excited as I want to try and get a card done for each challenge. I am totally STUMPED with Pryn's Word Scramble...but did okay with the Crossword...oh and forget about name the tune...I'm awful at that! Maybe that's one you'll do well!!

    Have a fantastic weekend!!

    Hugs,
    Lis
