Final Guest Post at Bugaboo - 2 Hot, BBQ

Coffee of the Day - Cinnamon Hazelnut

Well today is my last post as a guest designer with Bugaboo. I sure have had a lot of fun! and the team has just been as nice as can be to me. :) thank you to everyone for having me!

I end with a post for the new challenge on the inspiration & challenge blog, 'Recipe: 3 Strips of paper, distressed edges and a tag.'

I've used 'A Kid's View - BBQing' for a card I'm going to give our oldest son. one of the things he has done out at Camp all summer is cook burgers and hot dogs on the grill each week. this image immediately made me think of him when I saw it. :) I thought it would be fun to give him a gift card tucked inside to a restaurant that DOESN'T serve burgers so he and his girlfriend could go out for a fun dinner once Camp season is over. it's also a way to say thanks for all the time he put in behind that huge grill.

papers are from the Photoplay Summer Day Dreams collection, main die is by Spellbinders and bbq grill die is from Memory Box. sentiment is by Create with TLC. dew drops are from Double Click Skittles and orange seam binding is from Really Reasonable Ribbon. orange twine is from my great 30 cent find at Michael's.

hope you have a most amazing weekend! :)

Thanks Flower Hat Kitty

Top 3 at Creative Craft Cottage

Coffee of the Day - Irish Creme

Happy Happy Friday! it seems so rare that I actually make a card that isn't for some required project, but that is what I am sharing with you today. I am so very far behind on thank you cards and really need to play 'catch up' on them.

I was super blessed to win some fun images from Sami Stamps a few weeks back. I chose one that I knew would be perfect for this one thank you card I needed to make. a friend I've made over in the Coffee Loving Cardmaker's Facebook group has a cat named Anna. Debra and I have struck up quite the friendship as we talk about coffee, cats and crafting - the 3 'C's! :)

a little while ago she sent me an envelope chocked full of these beautiful Starbucks coffee cards. the stores in my area don't carry them, so I was tickled pink to receive this package from her. 2 of the cards are on my project here. my poor photography skills don't even begin to show the beauty of these cards! most of them are embossed in copper and truly gorgeous! I treasure each one and will use them VERY sparingly.

so for my card I have 'Flower Hat' and paper from Basic Grey's Fresh Cut collection. you can see the only embellishments I've used are the Starbucks items and ribbons & trims from Really Reasonable Ribbon. NO BUTTONS! ;) what is up with that?! grins! they just didn't seem to fit this time. I know - you probably think I have bumped my head. no worries. I'll make up for it on another project! :D

thanks so much for stopping by and I'll see you tomorrow with my last Bugaboo guest designer post.... sniff sniff.....

Coffee of the Day - White Chocolate Macadamia

Today's little crab is sailing by to say 'hello' to all of you! :) actually, he'll be sailing into the mailbox of one of our sons soon! I wanted a little something to brighten the day of one of our guys, and this fella seemed the perfect way to do so!

I have used the cutey 'Crab Boat' image on my card, in addition to papers from the Basic Grey Adrift collection. stitched cloud dies are by La La Land. it's a fairly simple card, but I wanted something easy to put into an envelope. burlap ribbon is from May Arts.

thanks so much for stopping by today! have a good one! :)

A Sweet Friendship, with Strawberries

Coffee of the Day - Vanilla Cupcake

Well I am back for part 2 of my posts for Elisabeth Bell's challenge blog! grins! if you read my post yesterday you know I made a huge  mistake and needed to re-do my card for the challenge! I tried ordering a stamp, only to discover this morning that it had sold out and the system didn't make the needed corrections to stock.

thank goodness Lynda, the team leader for The Digi Bells, came to my rescue!!! she was my angel yesterday! so kind and understanding. :) and look at the cutey digi she made just for me to use for the challenge! she took the adorable 'Valentine Angel Blowing Kisses' image from the store and added strawberries. :)

(understand that altering images in the digi world is almost ALWAYS a no no. but being who she is on the DT, she is allowed to do this and had the proper permission.)

so off I went to make my new card for the challenge - strawberries AND red. :)

I had these fun papers in my stash from Wild Rose Studios called Strawberry Picnic. just perfect! strawberry dies are by Sizzix while all other dies are by Spellbinders. flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and all other supplies are vintage. sentiment is from Create with TLC.

accents to main image were made with a spica clear glitter gel pen. the flash really lit those up like fireworks! whoa nelly! also added some faux stitching to the borders.

thanks for your patience while I got this new card finished!
enjoy your day! Jennifer

A Cherry On Top

Winner at Dragonfly Journeys
Top 3 at Broken Fairy
Top Pick at Creative Corner

A fun new challenge begins today over on Elisabeth Bell's World challenge blog. our theme is 'Strawberries or Red.' I hope you will play along with us. :) would love to see what you come up with!

UPDATE - I completely botched this one, folks. when I was told the challenge theme, I thought it was strawberries OR red. I have just discovered it is AND red. my poor little card does not work for the theme afterall. so I need to try to buy a stamp and get it here as fast as I can so I can get another card made. Please disregard my post and make a "strawberry AND red" card. so sorry. :(

****working on a new project... will post in the next day or so.

Since I don't YET have one of her cutey images with strawberries on it, I chose to go with a red theme. in the summertime, one of our favorite fruits around here are the yummy cherries. in fact, hubby just picked up a huge tub of tart cherries from our fave fruit farm. I put 3 big packages in the freezer to use later for baking, and added some to an apple pie for him. :) made such a tasty mix with the fresh apples from that same fruit farm. he was quite the happy camper!

I've used 'Sweet Sundae' and papers from October Afternoon's Cherry Hill collection. all dies except the cherries are by Spellbinders the red frame has pretty cherries embossed on it. :) the cherries are from Sizzix. fun sentiment is by Create with TLC, flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts, and buttons are from my vintage stash. red seam binding is from Zipper Stop, and red lace is a vintage goodie as well.

my dad and I used to have a game when we would use this saying. we would add all kinds of fun toppings to our sundaes after the cherries: sprinkles, strawberries, nuts - you name it! I smile every time I hear or see this to remember those fun memories! :) thanks, Paulette, for creating this sentiment for all of us to use! :)

A Simple Magnet of Encouragement

Coffee of the Day - Creme Brulee

Sometimes we all have rough days, and yesterday was one of those for me. I just needed a bit of crafty time, so I put together a simple magnet to either place on my refrigerator or card stock credenza to remind me that better days are ahead. it was the perfect little thing to add to the Bugaboo 'Anything but a Card' post for their inspiration and challenge blog.

I used the pretty 'Frame It - Meant to Be' image and re-purposed a microwave popcorn box for the backing. 2 pieces were die cut with the SU! Top Note die, painted, and then distressed with inks. magnetic strips were added to the back. shimmerz paint was added to several words of the main image and glitter pen accents to the butterfly trails. ribbon snippets are from Really Reasonable Ribbon and the chrysanthemum is from Wild Orchid Crafts.

sorry for the horrid photo. it really was the best of the ones I took. my tremors are getting pretty bad these days and I just flat out can't see well either. my sight is going, which is part of the reason for the yuck day. oh well. trying to stay focused on the many blessings in my life. :)

I'll be back in just a bit with my challenge project for The Digi Bells. hope to see you then!

Challenges:
Not Just Cards - color challenge
Scribbles Designs - how does your garden grow?
Colour Crazy - anything goes (watercolor brushes and SU! inks)

Let's Go to a Tropical Beach Somewhere....

Coffee of the Day -  Pecan Toffee

whew, it's Saturday! did you ever think we'd make it to the weekend? ;) well, my time as a Guest Designer at Bugaboo is winding down, so just a few posts left to share with all of you. I have had a grand time with the lovely peeps there and the oh, so fun images to be found in the Bugaboo store!

today there is a neat photo inspiration challenge on the Bugaboo blog. I remember many moments like this from our years of living in Florida. whenever we went to the beach, I refused to wear shoes the moment my toes hit the sand. my feet needed to feel the sand between my toes!

I chose to use the adorable little 'Kidz Beach' image for my card. papers and little card are from the Authentique Utopia collection. beautiful seam binding is some that I won from Crafty Ribbons. gorgeous color! I did distress it a bit, as I am wont to do. ;)

stitched sun die is by La La Land, palm tree die is a retired one from Whimsy Stamps, and main image die is from Spellbinders. chrysanthemum is from Wild Orchid Crafts and of course my vintage buttons are from my beloved stash. little accent dots and waves were made with a white gel pen.

I really do appreciate those of you who stop by to say hello and leave such kind comments! enjoy your weekend & stay cool on these hot summer days. :)

Water Play and the Digi Bells Blog Hop!

Winner at Crafty Sentiments

Coffee of the Day - Caramel Bread Pudding

Welcome to my stop on this summery Digi Bells Blog Hop! :) if you have been following along, then you would have arrived here from LINDA's absolutely gorgeous blog. should you get lost at any point along the way, then just head over to the Digi Bells blog for the complete list. while you are there, be sure to submit your project application for the Guest Designer call out! I have had the absolute BEST TIME as a guest these past few months. :) everyone is just as nice as can be!

as y'all know, each of us are showcasing the adorable images, 'Beach Ball Baby' and 'Big Splash,' former rubber stamps at Sweet Pea. these 2 are so precious! but then, aren't all of Elisabeth's images?! :) You will be able to find them in the digital store here, along with lots of other cuties.

I used papers from the Basic Grey Picadilly collection, flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts, a little ribbon snippet from Really Reasonable Ribbon, and red twine from Michael's. let me tell you, that twine was quite the deal! it was marked on sale for only 30 cents for 20 yards! yes, I grabbed several spools at that price! :) it's the same quality as what I have ordered from other stores for much more.

main image die is by Spellbinders, banner die is by SU!, and stitched sun die is from La La Land. cute wooden veneer 'play' is also from Michael's. I added a bit of orange stain and white Mr. Huey's to it for some summertime fun. a touch of wink of stella glitter pen was added to the water spray coming from the hose.  a bit of burlap doily and my ever fave vintage buttons complete the card.

Top 3 Pick at Crafting When We Can

Coffee of the Day - White Chocolate Macadamia

Happy Wednesday to all of you! thank you to those of you who have so kindly dropped by my little blog to say hello. :) I know the posts are few and far between these days, so your friendly comments make me smile and brighten my day! hopefully it won't be much longer before my health is back to normal and all is right as rain again. :)

I do have a post to share for today's Humor Me Wednesday over on the Bugaboo challenge and inspiration blog. don't forget the big sale going on in the store until the end of the month!

for my card, I've used the cutey 'Wee One Cowboy - Relaxing' and a sentiment I printed on my computer. it just made me giggle! papers are from the digital Carta Bella Giddy Up collection and brown grosgrain ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon. I added a little handmade lasso with some twine I had, adding a bit of distressing to it since a cowboy's rope is going to be well loved. ;) both main dies are by Spellbinders.

Christmas Curls in July

Coffee of the Day - Pecan Toffee

Hello and Happy Friday!

It's Christmas in July! have you made any of your holiday cards yet? there are so many cuties available in Elisabeth Bell's digi shop, and if you subscribe to her newsletter, you just might find a few popping into your mailbox, too! :)

One of those freebies that showed up in my inbox was this adorable image, 'Christmas Curls.' isn't she precious with her little kitty?! since we have just rescued a cat here in our home, this one really struck a chord with me. in face my own kitty cat is sitting in his special bed right here on top of the desk beside me as I type this post! yes, he might just be a bit spoiled, but as a rescue, he has a right to be! :)

papers are from the Basic Grey Evergreen collection, main die is by Spellbinders, pretty snowflake border die is by Sue Wilson for Creative Expressions, and little flower is by Petaloo. lace along bottom, buttons, and holly sprig are all vintage stash. pink seam binding (distressed) and gold cord are from Really Reasonable Ribbon. tag was sprayed with glimmer mist. distress stickles were added to holly berries and shimmerz was painted onto bells of main image. some faux stitching and a burlap doily complete the card.

this is my last post on the Digi Bell blog as a guest designer, and I have had such a lovely time! I still have a few more posts with them, but no more on the blog. it's sure been a fun ride!

it's also a mid month posting over at Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Extra challenge, so be sure to link up those Christmas cards you are making!

have a great weekend! :)

Tinsel in a Tangle Recipe Challenge

Coffee of the Day - White Chocolate Macadamia

Today's challenge over on the Bugaboo challenge and inspiration blog is a fun one. it's to make a funny card and add scallops, bling, and layers to your Christmas card. how's it going getting a few holiday cards made? kind of nice to think about snow and cooler temps during these heat waves, especially here where we don't have air conditioning. ;) don't forget the big sale in the Bugaboo store that is going on all month!

for my card, I'm using 'Christmas Ornament Gal' and a sentiment from the 'Gertrude - Tinsel in a Tangle' set.

papers are from the Basic Grey 25th and Pine collection while the embellishments are from their Juniper Berry collection. the red patterned paper had the prettiest scallops on it, so I didn't feel the need to add any others.

I used a wink of stella glitter pen and both pink & clear spica glitter pens to add touches to the main image. a white gel pen was used to add dots to the card base. green pearls are at each corner of the card. the glitter rose is from Michael's and seam binding is from Zipper Stop. buttons are from my vintage stash.

thank you so much for stopping by my blog today! it really means a lot to me. :)

Christmas Mice are Stirring Tag

Top 3 at SLS Lines

Coffee of the Day - Pecan Toffee

Today's Christmas in July challenge on the Bugaboo challenge and inspiration blog is all about making holiday tags. there are some great prizes up for grabs as well as half off everything in the store through the end of the month! :)

For my tag I have used the cutie 'Scene It - Christmas Mice' image. I used a card template for the tree since my tag is rather large and edged it with Prima chalk ink. tag is sprayed with glimmer mist.

lots of little accents of distress stickles and spica clear glitter gel pen on the main image for added holiday sparkle. some of the same distress stickles was added to the poinsettia, too.

a tiny snippet scrap of 25th and Pine Basic Grey paper added to the upper corner along with a vintage button and Zipper Stop seam binding make this a fun tag for any Christmas gift! :)

I'll have one more holiday project for the Bugaboo excitement this week, so please check back. sorry I couldn't play along in all of the challenges. this being sick is no fun whatsoever.

Candy Cane Stocking Sketch

Coffee of the Day - Caramel Bread Pudding

As part of the week long Christmas in July fun going on over at the Bugaboo challenge and inspiration blog, today is all about using a cool sketch. don't forget the great sale in the store, too! half off of everything until the end of the month is a deal that can't be beat! :)

for my card I'm using the pretty 'Candy Cane Stocking' image and papers from the Basic Grey 25th and Pine collection. you'll be seeing quite a bit from this collection during this week! :)

the shine from the gold doily threw the camera off, so I do apologize for that. my photo editing skills are not the greatest either, as we all know. so very sorry.

pretty flower is from Petaloo, ribbon snippets are from Really Reasonable Ribbon, while lace and twine are from my stash. buttons are from my vintage collection. I used a gold glitter gel pen to add accents to the main image and a gold marker to add dots to the card base.

Thank you for stopping by! I hope your day is filled with all that makes you smile! :)

So Sorry For Your Dog Loss

Coffee of the Day - Chocolate Peppermint

Some very dear friends of ours recently lost their dog of many years. he was such a sweetheart, and I just couldn't let the moment pass without making a card to tell them how very sorry I was at his passing.

the card works perfectly for the new challenge over at the Bugaboo challenge and inspiration blog where the theme is 'anything goes.'

I had not seen such perfect images for these types of occasions until I came across a card someone shared on another blog. I'll be picking up the cat version soon. here is the link to the one I used on my card, 'Sign It - Dog Condolences.'

papers are from the Basic Grey Oxford collection, main die is by Spellbinders & pet item dies are retired ones from Whimsy Stamps, seam binding is from Really Reasonable Ribbon, and buttons are from my vintage stash. corrugated cardboard and die were distressed with Prima chalk ink. flower centers were dotted with distress stickles and dog tag was painted with shimmerz.
